2007 volvo v50 key stuck in ignition vehicle totally shut down
It is best to call a locksmith, unless you know how to take apart the ignition tumbler and put the assemly locks in the correct order. It sounds like the key tumbler hold in broke and all the tumblers are loose and causing the key to be stuck. If you want to hurry the job for the locksmith and save money, buy the key tumbler assembly for your vehicle for the locksmith to install. Otherwise he will have to make the trip to buy the assembly, which in turn costs you more money. Mechanic shops can replace key tumblers too but when it is stuck in the column, it takes a lot of effort to remove if they are unskilled.

Engine over heated and no compression
Really must have got hot! Your rings have got so hot that they have broke into pieces and / or your pistons have actually melted to the point that they no longer seal properly. Sorry to be the one to deliver the bad news, but you need a new / rebuilt engine. :-(

Where is the engine number on a VOLVO V50 please?
There will be a serial number on the side of the block. It was probably covered by oil or the tech couldn't find it, so they just wrote "obscured"to save a couple of minutes of work. i would not be worried. The only time the number comes into question is under a warranty replacement incident or if replacing with a different motor, this number will be checked to make sure the motor was not stolen.
Regards,
matt

Foreign object has gone down oil filler pipe
there is no object to stop anything going into the engine once it has gone down the oil filler cap.
im guessing it was some kind of nut/bolt? if so id give the advice of not running the engine, maybe if your lucky and you take the cam shaft cover off you'll see the object you have dropped. if it isnt there and it was a very small object, try taking the engine sump off and hope to god that its there, make sure you drain the oil before doing this.
if it is there then begin to worry what damage it has done on its travels threw the engine, if its still in the cam shaft area, then it will have properly done abit of damage to the cam shafts.
if it isnt in any of these id suggest you take the engine head off if it was a bolt/nut before u start running the car again.
