no not knock drives ok cold and if now warm using a hot active right foot keep it going, :????? shuts off parked but what if use right foot to keep it going parked? go broke fast GUE$$ing no? what is causing this we do tests. lots of tests. if need be. bad engine, bad spark , bad fuel and bad spark cause fuel to end via logic in the ECU. if drives ok, cold then the CAT is not melted, ching ching saved you $200 just there. when it stall is ,just before the stall was RPM 800 or 400 if 400 the EGR may be stuck open most times causes cold to fail too. we then want to learn if spark failing is cause, first. spark kills fuel by logic so spark tests NOW I use timing light to do that. to the #1 spark plug so close by. and at stall ,just as it does ,does the strobe light go dead>? when it stalls, insert the oBD1,jumper wire and see the flash blink codes for CKP? or CMP bingo spark died. code 42 and 43 are spark fail code old GM OBD1. code 12 = happy no errors. The diagnostic trouble codes can be read by grounding test terminal B. Terminal A is the internal PCM ground. Using a jumper from B to A will read the stored codes. These are the last two terminals on the upper right of the ALDL connector. this GM OBD1, not modern standard OBD2. USA 1: all fuses check good. 2: test spark first and totally using tools. 3: jumper the ALDL and see if code 42/43 : or ? the serv, book shows this. any thing red lined can be bad. cmp,ckp,ICM, PCM. learn top use a timing light, mag pickup kind so see spark die fast on the fly. see it. the BINGO on track most times if right hot footing trick fails (will not recover) the spark died. (sure engine compression tests good but runs cold so,may be good)

the diagnoses was wrong. IF THE START MOTOR SOUNDs NORMAL IT IS. GRRRRRGGGG THEY SPIN ABOUT 300 RPM ! WE CALL THAT ROBUST CRANKING, a sound or seen at crank pulley with eyes. IF YES, THAT WORKS and will not start the engine we fix engine next. sure bad engines (EFI failures spark or fuel wrong) will kill dead any starter abused like that, for sure cranking past 10 seconds wrecks them from overheating it.(the starter motor) change you post to : my engine is hard to start and or to keep running,(or stalls) a total different problem that. fast starters. never did a tuneup right.? all new spark parts and filters , fuel and air not done. sure it fails. sure will ! 22 years ignored, all that. Ask your shop to do that, now "a tune up" or please do my service points (modern names) good luck, it needs help. so gets some. (hands on help)

Yes, This could be something simple like a clogged drain. The water is most likely in the shelf area where the windscreen wiper motor sits. First feel around under the shelf and you should find a drain pipe at each end. It is often tucked behind the top mount for the suspension. If you can't get access from underneath you will need to remove the scuttle panel the wiper motor arms come through. Once the wiper arms are removed the panel should only be held on with push in clips and the rubber edging strips.

well , check fuses first. the TCM shifts gears, on most cars, for sure 2006 the TCM is brain (puter) and has inputs and outputs 1: inputs speed sensors 2 input gear selector TRS (PRNDL1) 3: outputs solenoids, elect valves that gate hydraulic paths in the box.( to move clutch packs there) what you forgot to do is scan he car (PCM) USA "? car is called OBD2, 16pin DLC scan port under dash. it will tell you things failed. learn too the TCM has a limphome mode, that skips gears, or missing gears and. speed sensors top cause if all else fails the transmission manual tells you to check trans pump pressure, if low , it will never shift right. mileage on car is? AT fluid level is, (hot engine parked , P shifted , running)???? amswer to the mark hot, do not overfill the box or it foams up and wrecks the box, learn to do right as vast do not do . this is so bad oEM removed the dipstick. (wise they are) on my 010 jeep , i addd the stick from jeep actual.(case in point) TCM means transmission control module even if part of PCM. PCM is usually 2 brains, 1engine 1 trans. ok. (brains as in the great Allen Turn brain theory)

• The hazard switch in the ON position.
• A hazard switch diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is set.
• The vehicle hood is open.
• A hood ajar switch DTC is set.
• An automatic transmission shift lock control system DTC is set.
• A/T can not tell what gear it is in,(park is answer)but. fails.
• The ignition key is in the ignition.
• A vehicle speed signal is detected by the engine control module (ECM)/powertrain control module (PCM).(already running)
• A vehicle DTC that illuminates the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL).or called SES. CEL is normal name used.
• doors not locked.

gets to a quarter of a tank on the gas gauge it runs out of gas both times ??? Your out of gas , gas gauge wrong, no fuel! Failure can be caused by electrical contacts in the column. A 2004 is quite old (18 years) so this is not surprising.I had a car (not a pontiac) where the entire dashboard suddenly went out one day. There was what was called a "clockspring" that fits between the steering wheel and column, it broke and along with it the entire control panel. There are a host of wires and electrical parts inside most steering wheels. Here is the bad news, you probably can't fix it yourself, if the steering wheel needs removed because of the airbag. Another alternative is you may have blown a fuse. Find your owners manual, and locate the fuse that goes to these components and see if it's still good. Many radios also have in-line fuses (especially after market) which means pulling the radio out and checking that fuse, but if they both went out at the same time, there is probably a common problem.
