What colour is the smoke? The easiest way to check this is on first start when the engine is cold. This can give clues as to where the problem could be. is the vehicle doing anything else different? A blue exhaust smoke is commonly oil getting into the cylinders. White smoke suggests coolant getting into the cylinders. Black smoke is the engine running too rich. Blue or white smoke can often mean a blown head gasket. On a 2001 engine that could the most likely reason.

V8 Engine. 1996 Infinity Q45 scans said it bad, if not do not listen to dweebs saying it is bad blind, not told why you want to go there at all.? bank 1, KS-1 they are both mounted to the top of the bare engine block they are Microphones, no loose bolts rattling up there or loose cam chains. the main intake manifold must be pulled. (takes skills) facing engine bank 1 is right bank, cylinder 1 front there. KS1 is on same bank. left word below means drivers seat perspective see below KS1 is on the right facing the engine clear as day we see the intake manifold is gone. FRONT Of car IS HERE X it is big sandwich, remove the top things seen to get here.called gaining ACCESS to it. 5. Disconnect and label the hoses from the valve cover, the throttle body, the step motor AAC valve, the EGR control valve and the air cut valve.
6. If the spark plug wires are in the way, disconnect them and move them aside. Disconnect the accelerator cable from the throttle body.
7. Remove the upper intake manifold collector-to-intake manifold bolts, and lift the assembly from the intake manifold. Discard the gasket.
8. Remove the lower intake manifold collector-to-intake manifold bolts, in sequence, and lift the assembly from the intake manifold. Discard the gasket.
9. If the fuel injector assembly is in the way, perform the following procedures:
   1. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the fuel injectors.
   2. Disconnect the fuel injector assembly from the fuel lines.

1. Remove the fuel rail-to-cylinder head bolts.
2. Remove the fuel rail assembly from the engine.

Remove the intake manifold-to-engine bolts, in sequence, lift the intake manifold from the engine and discard the gasket. see that arrow red, it is inTHERE im told Olive OyL can get there , directly./(grin)

Keep looking for shorts- that's causing the fuse to blow. Probably causing other problems too. Its unusual for a car to have so many electrical shorts unless someone has messed with the wiring.

NOT TOLD THIS. DOES CAR DRIVE AND RUN OK DAY OR NIGHT, GEE NOT TOLD. KEY OFF HEADLAMPS ARE BRIGHT.? ALL FUSES TEST GOOD.? SCAN THE CAR (PCM) YET. OOPS IT TELLS YOU WHAT IS WRONG. MOST MODERN CARS THE BCM RUNS LIGHTS. ALL OF THEM AND MORE the only easy cure is remove the battery neg lug off battery and wait 1/2hour and put it back hoping the BCM wakes up. or the brake switch is bad. scanning finds is , why wait to scan it? many places do it for free. or buy the tool and uses it.

An engine that will crank but not start can be tricky to diagnose. First, we can rule out the battery, starter and circuits in-between due to the cranking condition. The three areas to focus our attention on are compression, spark and fuel. Generally speaking, a compression gauge should show each cylinder at above 100 PSI for an engine to run. Low compression would have to be present across all cylinders (or at least one bank on a v-shaped engine) to generate a no-start condition which would be indicative of a timing belt or other mechanical issue. Next, a spark tester should show ignition spark present while the engine is cranking. With a coil-on-plug (COP) setup it would be inconceivable for all six plugs or coils to fail simultaneously, therefore if spark is not present it would point to a crankshaft position sensor (CKP) or other control-side issue. Lastly, there is the fuel system which is two-fold; fuel supply and fuel delivery. Fuel supply is the fuel pump which takes fuel from the tank and supplies it to the fuel rail at the engine. The fuel pump should prime (turn on for a few seconds) when the key is cycled on. Fuel pressure can be checked at the fuel rail for proper operation or alternatively a flammable aerosol such as starting fluid can be sprayed into the intake while cranking to see if the engine runs. Fuel delivery on the other hand consists of the fuel injectors which must be modulated. Much like the ignition coils it is not likely to have six injectors fail at once, therefore if fuel is not injecting into the intake it would point to a camshaft position sensor (CMP) or other control-side issue. I got some info which may help see it but may not be the exact as your car. If you are having some problems with overheating from what I saw looks like you have 2 thermostats and after changing thermostats, you can have air trapped in your engine, which will still allow engine to overheat.
