You mentioned original engine. There are thrust bearing on the crank main bearings. If these wear out then the clutch has problems. There is a spec as to allowable forward backward movement of the crank. Press the crank pulley to the rear then press the clutch. The movement should be in thousandths.

Are there two different spark plug sizes for a 1965 spitfire mk2?

I believe that these are heat ranges. One for touring and one for city driving. The touring plugs run cooler. Someone could have put the hot plugs because of oil fouling. Another option ( I raced a 65, ) is to go with platinum plugs. More expensive but last forever and can run a hotter heat range so no fouling.

When idling, if I loose the lid on the valve cover, where you add the oil, the engine raises prox 500 rpm,Is this normal?.

this is normal, engine has PCV valve which pulls vapors from engine when running, by removing oil filler cap you are increasing air to PCV valve, the engine runs slightly lean with cap removed

My mk 4 spit is turning over and firing with the ignition key open but shuts off as soon as I let the key go. Any ideas?

I'm thinking it's the switch itself since it does fire in the 'start' position. The contacts in 'run' position may have become worn, hence no current supply to ignition.. This is not unusual if the ignition key is combined with several others, placing extra weight on the mechanisim. This happens with air cooled Porsche 911's and older liquid cooled VW's..

Fh41825he engine number what cc

The F series engines are from Triumph Spitfires. FH is a 1300cc engine (1296cc) from a Spitfire Mk4. I can't remember if it's a small crank journal engine like the Herald 13/60 GE engine (good) or a large crank (not as good).

How would I replace a battery on a Triumph wristwatch ? I have the tool to put the back on . Just never encountered this type of battery with it's unique hold down . Thanks in advance Godbless

To replace the battery in your Triumph wristwatch, you may need to use a specialized tool to release the steel hold-down. Here are the steps you can follow:

Remove the back of the watch using the tool you have.

Locate the battery and the steel hold-down. The hold-down is usually a metal plate that covers the battery and keeps it in place.

Use a flat screwdriver or a specialized battery removal tool to gently pry the hold-down up and release it from the battery. Some hold-downs are held in place with screws, so you may need to remove screws first.

Once the hold-down is removed, gently lift the battery out of its compartment.

Replace the old battery with a new one of the same size and type.

Replace the hold-down over the new battery and press it into place.

Replace the back of the watch, making sure to tighten the screws securely.

Note: If you're not comfortable with replacing the battery yourself, it is best to take your watch to a professional watch repair service for assistance. Replacing the battery improperly can cause damage to the watch.
