You'll need to find out first why the check engine light is on by getting the diagnostic codes from the computer. It sounds to me that whatever it is not covered because it's over 8 years old.

A blocked fuel filter could be the problem or a leak in the fuel supply line. The fuel filter should be on firewall near brake master, they need replacing every two years.
