What is the effect of redlining the honda civic engine while speeding

Depends: Firstly, redlining is not good for your engines life., that is why they normally have regulators installed to cut the power and save the driver from blowing his engine. Lesson: in your 1st,2nd,.. gear, when you floor the accelerator, you will notice that your rev counter is in the red but your speedo can only get to a certain speed and not go further until you change to the next gear. If you continue in the first gear and the rev counter stays in the red for a long time you will blow your motor. I'm giving you an e,example of the first gear as it more dramatically evident of the damage by just listening to the engine. Now in your top gear, it is the same, you should never drive constantly in the red scale as it is detrimental to your cars engine no matter what the speed.

My civic ex is lurching and impedeing

Hello Kim, Lurching and "impedeing" is not the most comprehensive description I've ever heard. That could describe everything including wheels falling off... flat tires... LOCKED UP CV-Joint... dried out oil-less manual transmissions .. to pistons sticking outside the engine block. Perhaps you failed to pay a pile of parking tickets... and have a wheel-lock attached? ((I'm just saying)) My best "ADVISE" would be to guide YOUR "lurching and impedeing" down to your first local muffler shop that offers FREE READING... (FREE is a relative term) ... Have them READ your DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES... For a good starting place. It would be WISE to know the prices of some of your "PARTS" before you go... Or you could relate more relevant details... year, engine displacement, tranny type... Maintenance history and POST a better question... provoking a better answer. Hope I'm helping! 2008 honda civic ex shows code p0135 I have replaced the sensor and checked the harness and the cel turns right back on after I clear the codes, what else could be causing the cel to come back on?

Have to ask.. Did you check the continuity of the wires from the sensor to the PCM? 95% times it is the O2 sensor. Wires usually break behind the plug.

Fuel gauge shows when tank is a quarter down it reads on bottom of guage, opposite of where it should be. 2007 Honda civic

You most likely need to replace the fuel level sending unit inside the fuel tank.

When i brake im getting a slight grinding noise but have no warning light on dash board?

brakes have pads (sometimes called shoes) that press against a round disc connected to the wheels that go round and round to stop the car moving. When the pads wear down you get metal rubbing on metal rather than a heat absorbing material rubbing on the metal disc.If you do not get your brake pads checked they can wear down / damage the metal disc and then have to spend lots of dollars getting the metal disc re - machined smooth (this disc is called a rotor) and new brake pads. You are correct the warning light on the dash will not light up it will light up only if the hydraulic fluid used to press the pads onto the disc fails and you then fail to stop. .
