My transmission jumps very abruptly when I shift to reverse in my 2003 Ford Escape, V6, 3.0 engine. What is the cause
I usually don't work on the transmissions, but when a Torque converter stays in the lock-up mode I understand that you get rough shifts. The lock-up mode is often advertised as a "gear" but when a Torque converter goes into that mode, there is no slippage and it is considered directly connected to the pumps inside the trans.
This would result in over pressurization of the trans fluid. You might be able to have an external pressure check done in a trans shop. Sometimes the Torque converter has an electric lock-up and they can diagnose this.

Sounds like the battery. Your local parts store can check the battery and charging system of your vehicle.

2009 Ford Escape rear differential not engaging.
This sounds like 2 problems the first is the drive shaft is spinning with the rear wheels off the ground and no matter on or off the ground the rears don't spin yes/no? If so rear axle carrier is blown the gears are shot second the front wheels off the ground spin but on the ground nothing they stop the transfer case chain is slipping please post back because it's a little confusing and be specific about which drive shaft at what time your trying to tell us so describe one side at a time

You talking rear differential? I would check the fluid level. There should be a plug where you can check fluid and add if needed. If you take the plug out and fluid tries to run out, put the plug back in, the fluid level is ok. In the old days, I'd stick the tip of my index finger and bend, If I could touch the fluid, I considered the level to be ok. I believe the spec I saw said about 3/16 below edge of hole was ok.
The power window button on
If your careful you can take that button apart but it is more than likely to worn to do any thing with it you would save yourself a big headache by just going and buying a new one or go to a junk yard and take one off a vehicle there
