When you drove thru the large puddle of water the air cleaner system may have sucked water into the engine, pull out the spark plugs and try turning over the engine, if water comes out of the spark plug holes then you may have a serious problem.

The fans belts need to be checked to verify that they are clean and tight. The fluild needs to be checked for level and sometimes changing th fluid to new fixes some problems. there's a pressure switch that makes the powersteering work less a tspeed and it's plug and the swich can fail.After that the rack and or pump in that order. I do the cheapest stuff first. Belt , level and change fluild before getrting tinto the part wher you can get over your head quick if your not a professional mmechinic. O r need to hire one.

check your main fuses under bonter

1. Raise and support the vehicle.
2. Place a drain pan under the oil pan drain plug.
3. Remove the oil pan drain plug.
4. Drain the engine oil.
5. Remove the engine belt
6. Remove the lower AC compressor bolt.Remove the 4 oil pan to transaxle bolts (1).
7. Remove the oil pan bolts.

Most likely a broken fork bolt or shift fork itself. You will have to open trans to find issue.

Sounds like electrical problem. Is the electrical connector properly connected to the valve body on the transmission ? Maybe a solenoid was accidently unplugged when you had the cover off.

You really need to invest in manuals for these vehicles you're working on. I don't think this engine has a camshaft position sensor, regardless of the diagram you posted. Does the engine run? Is there a connector there to rewire? Is there a port/opening to insert a camshaft position sensor into? General Motors used the 2.2L and 2.4L ecotec engines in several models from 2002 to 2006 (or later) that had no camshaft position sensors.

Circuit Description Moving the ignition switch to the START position signals the body control module (BCM) through discrete inputs from the ignition transducer that engine crank has been requested. The BCM verifies that theft is not active and sends a serial data message to the engine control module (ECM)/powertrain control module (PCM) requesting engine start. The ECM/PCM receives a 12-volt signal from the park/neutral position (PNP) switch or clutch pedal start switch notifying that it is safe to start the engine. There is a splice on this circuit in the fuse block-underhood that supplies power for the starter relay coil. The starter relay coil control circuit is then grounded by the ECM/PCM closing the switch in the starter relay suppling 12 volts to the S-terminal of the starter. Ground is supplied through the engine block. Plus you need to under stand what power modding is , because the BCM is the power mode master . Sounds like the ignition key mechanism has failed. Probably needs replacing. Has anyone been attaching wires to it? If so, they may have mixed up the wiring.

You may have a burned out headlight bulb the low beams always go first, if thats it change the passenger side as well. I'm not sure I know what you're saying with the turn signal, are you talking about the parking light not working? Or does the turn signal stop flashing when you release the lever, if that's the case the turn switch is bad. I hope this helps. Take care.
