This can happen if the battery is low / dead. To solve, connect a set of jumper cables between the battery in the Cobalt and a running car's battery. Shut off the running car. In the Cobalt, make sure all accessories (lights, radio, fan, etc.) are off. Step on the brake, then move the gear shifter fully into the PARK position. Next, either attempt to start the engine, or turn the key to the OFF position and remove it from the ignition. I hope this helps & good luck!

It is built into the blower resistor. the resistor is behind the blower, under the dash, on the passenger side. Replace the resistor.

Sounds like the battery may be dead and it could also be that the terminals may need cleaned or tightend

2. Place a drain pan under the oil pan drain plug.
3. Remove the oil pan drain plug.
4. Drain the engine oil.
5. Remove the engine belt
6. Remove the lower AC compressor bolt.Remove the 4 oil pan to transaxle bolts (1).
7. Remove the oil pan bolts.

Most likely a broken fork bolt or shift fork itself. You will have to open trans to find issue.

Sounds like electrical problem. Is the electrical connector properly connected to the valve body on the transmission ? Maybe a solenoid was accidently unplugged when you had the cover off.
