Brake pedal hard with engine running, same as engine off
Check fluid levels in your power steering/brake reservoirs and look for hydraulic fluid leaks in the power steering and brake lines. Could be a bad power steering pump too. Your owners manual should show positions of hydraulic reservoirs.
Hard brake pedal with engine running, same as engine off
If you have vacuum assist power brakes look for your vacuum line to be disconnected from either the booster or the engine, or a hole in the line. If you have electric assist brakes, look for a blown fuse or make sure you are getting power to the brake servo.
Why does it have a hard brake pedal, same as engine is off?
Vacuum line from engine to vacuum storage chamber is leaking, or the check valve on the chamber is leaking, or other leaks. Unless you find simple things like leaking hoses, I recommend you put your life in the experts hands when it comes to this kind of safety device.
