2010 BMW 335d Questions & Answers
Replaced a fuel injector in my 2011 335d now the car will not start?
Start with basics. Spark and fuel. 1) To test spark pull a plug wire and insulate yourself from the high voltage with a thick rag. Hold it 1/4" from ground and have a helper crank the engine as you look for a strong, snapping spark. If no spark you will need to start your search there. Many things control this and a good tech would try testing many of the ignition components with the help of wiring diagrams and the specifications of those components. Common problems are Crank and Cam sensors as well as many other sensors. 2) To test fuel you want to listen for the electric fuel pump as you turn on the ignition to the ON position (not the start /crank) position. Get into the car and roll down the windows and close the doors to stop the chime /buzzer with no radio or other noise. Turn the key to the ON position and listen for an electric hum or vibration as the fuel pump cycles for only a few seconds until it reaches operating pressure. If not look for fuses or fuel pump relay.Try tapping on the fuel pump relay with the plastic handle of a screwdriver and try starting again. If it starts that relay is failing and needs to be replaced. The pump itself may be bad as well as the regulator or wiring or connections. Good Luck.
How can I get the HDC to turn off in my 2002 bmw x5?
To turn off HDC on a BMW, all you have to do is press the HDC button located on the center console. The button will have an image of a vehicle going downhill with a speedometer above it, and you'll know it's off if there are no lights illuminated above it. If you ever want to turn the system on again, just press the button again.
2003 BMW X5 4.4 no crank no start
Check the basics first. Is battery fully charged? This is the most common reason for a no crank, no start. What exactly does it do when you turn the key? Nothing at all, no lights, no 'click' as you turn the key. A slow lazy crank?
BMW MINI R50 charge warning light is on. It turned on after oil leaked flashy from the power steering pump. Power generation and charging are normal. What's the problem?
no year car told at all.
using voltmeter
what is battery voltage at idle.?
not told' 13. to 15vdc is par, if below the alternator is dead or its fuses blown.
if ALT is dead, driving the car , far (30min) will make engine stall and be dead, until battery is jump started or charged.
that lamp comes of a reason, it means
fully load test the battery and test the alternator correctly
check all fuses
scan the OBd2 port with a scan tool for charge system errors.
If the battery is bad,the alternator can in fact refuse to charge it.
intermittent battery cell shorts or opens can do that.
batteries over 7 years are , love to fail.
"it turned on after oil leaked flashy/, "
i am not sure what flashy means.
DId the PS pump fail and leak and squirt PS fluid to some electronics
under the hood, that can be vary bad, if did.
be more clear on PS leaks, leaked to where. ? matters

get the service manual.
the users guide does not cover relays.
or 2 persons find it.
one key start (cranking)
other one finds the relay that clicks cranked
bingo found, and can click even bad. (contractor burned inside) or starter is bad. ever hot wire a starter , keys in pocket?
or of all are dead , chances are the relay is good and
problem is up stream.(from relay)
PRNDL switch bad, in Park and Neutral both?
key switch failing (bet not)
IMMO lamp glowing wrong and engine is DISABLED.?
try both IMMO keys yet, it came new with 2 keys
battery is bad and dead
battery is only discharged
battery lugs, rusty and loose all 4ends good, 2 cables.
scan the PCM yet, see if it tells you what died?
no country told, and scanning is not the same outside USA.
it is based on secret country you. for sure. 2003
all ours 1996 up is OBD2, we invented it here. EPA.gov mandated. other countries lagged till 2003 or 07 or beyond.
not posting the country makes answers super hard and most times dead wrong.
your X5 has many Range rover parts. 99 up
best is check all fuses first
then scan it, never miss out on the chance it tells you
for example TRS (tran, range switch) errors (PRNDL)
be a shame to mis out on that.
or not cranking? is it? (is cranking dead? or just slow)
shift to Neutral and crank, to see if that works is really first.
covered this is , in the users guide, crank in park or N./
