Have it checked by someone with GM Tech 2 scan tool .

Your best bet have the vehicle check by a repair shop that has a advanced scan too to check for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes in all the modules on the vehicle , which is about 10 . Don't listen to someone who tells you to replace parts without trouble shooting the problem , 9 out 10 times they are wrong an you spent money you didn't need too .

Though I don't see the pump in the diagram I am looking at, I believe it is cycled by the pcm. The pcm is setting the code because it is not seeing an increase in oxygen when it turns the pump on. Maybe it's not pumping properly.

Most often this is due to a faulty evap solenoid failure. What happens is it will stick open and raw fuel will enter the intake system. The car will seem flooded.

They would normally lock up when pushed hard without ABS.

if you are having this problem you will need a brake bleeding kit. this helps force the brake fluid round. the kit comes with all the fittings and you connect to a tyre valve, this primes the system so no need to pump the brake pedal, the kits are cheap and easy to use.

That should tell you something ! The parts store guy's are not automotive technician's ! Take it to a qualified repair shop !

I hope you are using the right PS fluid for your vehicle! Have you checked that?Power steering systems are tricky. Whenever you add fluid, you should (with the engine running and PS pump turning), turn the wheels ALL the way, both left and right while creeping as slow as a snail on an open parking lot ... at least twice (like R-I-G-H-T, then L-E-F-T, then R-I-G-H-T, then L-E-F-T)! Then re-check the PS fluid level again, and if still low, repeat the whole process! DON'T turn the steering wheel too fast!
