There isn't much you can do unless you are willing to jack it up and remove the wheel. It might not be brake related, though the chances are it is. Your vehicle as most vehicle now a day's have a safety system called shift interlock ,won't allow the gear selector to move from park unless the driver is pushing the brake pedal . The stop lamp switch is an input to the BCM - body control module an when it see's a voltage on this circuit it will energize the shift lock control solenoid . You could try googling chevy interlock system for your year an maybe disabling for good ! Could also have DTC - diagnostic trouble code stored in the BCM , auto zone , advance etc... can not pull these code . Factory or professional scanner needed .
