indicates that the vacuum actuator is not shifting the ratios when the vacuum level drops off
when a certain vacuum level is reached in the inlet manifold, the actuator makes for the change and if that is not working properly then what you describe happens
run the fault codes first to determine if other sensors like the VSS, TR or TCM are fully operational as well
but as the transmission is changing well after that , it will not be a transmission problem
The pick-up coil/stator is easily replaced in a dodge distributor, and once you have removed the distributor cap and the ignition rotor, then just dis-connect the wire connector from the pick-up coil/stator and lift it straight up and out of the distributor, and the distributor does not have to be removed or dis-assembled to replace the pick-up coil/stator. There are two alignment tabs on the pick-up coil/stator that will match up with the distributor cap when the pick-up coil/stator is properly installed. Here are two images to help assist you.

it can be cable controlled but most now are vacuum controlled by the controls in the cab so look for a round cylinder on a heater hose that will have a small vacuum hose coming out of it
Engine oil pumps rarely fail. When the oil pressure is low, it's usually due to worn bearings. Other causes are possible, but the oil pump is inside the oil pan on the bottom of the engine. Before deciding that it needs to be replaced, the oil pressure should be checked with a pressure test gauge - not the gauge on the vehicle, because that gauge could be inaccurate. In fact, a defective oil pressure sending unit, gauge or wiring is far more likely than oil pump failure. Be sure the oil level is correct. Compare the reading in psi. to the manufacturers specification. Also consider the oil viscosity. Thin oil gives lower pressure than thicker oil (higher numbers like 40) however, thinner oil flows faster. Use the oil recommended. If the oil pump has really failed, bearings and other engine parts may be damaged. If you really do need to replace it: dodge pick up oil pump
Your starter went out. Easy fix. Follow your red battery cable and at the other end is your starter. Unscrew the two bolts and disconnect the battery cable and brown wire. Put in the new one fifty bucks.
Hi I am looking to find out if anyone else agrees that the metal part of the o2 sensers are the same only the plastic connector is different. So if you buy the up stream senser that is cheaper than the down stream one and splice your old connector to the new metal senser you have a fix.
Check your fluid. Is it of correct level. You check with engine running and in neutral on level ground with e/brake on. If it is of good level, not burnt looking or smelling/ meaning should be pink and sweet smelling. It could be a speed sensor but you should have a check engine light if that were the case. If you have a check engine light give me the code. But it would be the speed sensor on the drivers side of the trans not the axle as that is more to do with abs I believe. Let me know
There is a small clip with one wire on it at the base of the seat belt where it connects to the floor. It might be broken, or the switch inside the belt clip is faulty. If the wire is fine and connected the belt clip side needs replacing
The throttle positioning sensor might be at fault. But check connections first.If it is only does this when the motor is cold it could be a temp. sensor. Check the trouble codes first.
NO FAULT CODES?CHECK THE BOTTOM OF THE IGNITION COIL FOR CRACKS..IF IT'S CRACKED,REPLACE IT..A CRANK OR CAM SENSOR MAY CAUSING PROBLEM AS WELL..CAN ALSO CHECK DISTRIBUTOR SHAFT FOR PLAY AND CHECK TRIGGER WHEEL IN DISTRIBUTOR FOR LOOSE ON SHAFT..ALSO LOOK FOR OIL POOLING INSIDE INTAKE MANIFOLD..INTAKE PLENUM PAN GASKET MAY ALSO CAUSE PROBLEMS..I HOPE THIS HELPS..LET ME KNOW IF YOU NEED ANY MORE INFO
It sounds like the linkage at the transmission has come loose. Have someone get inside and move the shift lever from gear to gear so you can see where the linkage is on your transmission. You'll have to climb under ypou truck to see this, on the drivers side. check to see that all the bolts are tight. Your switch that allows you truck to start in Park or Neutral is located there.
