I do not know your vehicle but in that time frame a lot of cars used what is called a ballast resistor. During start it was shorted allowing the coil to output more power, once the engine came up to speed about two seconds the short was removed. Shorting simply means bypassing the resistor. When is the last time the front end has been lubricated, just a thought. My 1991 Lotus Esprit SE also has heavy steering which is normal for these racing suspension's. Its to compensate for over steering, which is easier to do with power steering.

US models such as my 1991 Lotus Esprit SE is to the left of the steering column at the bottom of the dash. Reach down and feel behind the dash there will be a rectangular pull or pivot which releases the hood.

The glass is siliconed in which takes a heating knide to remove. A trained automotive glass technician knows how to use one and also to instal. A photo below shows the quarter glass opening without the glass installed

have to be quick ,got to get er indoors from work,or an earbashing .right back to car talk --not exactly sure what iam dealing with here ,carb or injection ,it has a distributor if its an 86 but does it have points or a module inside the distributor or just a pick up with the module under the coil ,Also this turbo ?? someone put new bearings in?? or the rotors as well .must dash i have 5 mins to go and get the old dragon

What year is the esprit? is the noise audible with the engine running car in neutral and stationary if so and it goes with you foot on the pedal it is the release bearing, this is common and often caused by incorrect adjustment on the clutch fork the correct setting is in the workshop manual.

you meant does not crank, (starting is next after cranking it first) the gear shift works in park or neutral , you operator guide states that. yes that means the PRNDL switch in or on the gear box is bad. or wires to it corroded pins or damaged, also called range switch. or TRS , tranny range switch, easy no? you found the hard proof and told it. when bad switch or bad wires to it.

it is in and or under the back seat. put it toward the middle of the car. if not you will brake it and the truck will not close. So you might want to go to the dealer to find out if there is a fix now to get the cable replaced so if you try to open it the wrong way at least you can close the trunk

There is a manual trunk release that is inside the car near the rear seats. You must make sure to pull the release towards the tunnel/middle of the car, not out away from it. Apparently, a number of sales people have tried to demonstrate it and by pulling on it incorrectly, broke the inner workings leaving the trunk then incapable of latching closed. The repair is not simple. Something about the cable being encased in a tube that is not straight but curved, so that when you pull on it the wrong way, it breaks something. Lotus is redesigning that component. Also note you may need someone to gently lift on the trunk as you pull the lever. It should be a yellow lever.

The usual culprits are bad ignition relay, bad module or coil(s). Ignition switch also possible.
