It's probably a problem with the shift lock system . This is a safety feature that won't allow you to shift from park into a gear unless your foot is pushing on the brake pedal . That red wire is not intended as a power source, you have shorted the unit to ground. Most likely the wire you connected to the lighter is a power out of the head unit not an power in. make a sketch of the belt before removal, helps with refitting. if there is a belt tensioner release it , if auto tension fit a socket and pry bar to the alternator pulley nut and release tension and remove belt, disconnect battery and remove alternator bolts.

Check fuse and check for power and ground at the blower motor itself. If you have power and ground, it sounds like a bad blower motor. If no power or ground, it could be a bad fuse or blower motor resistor.

Trust what the AA says .. It does sound like you have an airlock .. and the airlock is likely to be in the heater matrix, as opposed to the radiator. Bleed the heating system: Set your heater controls to hot and fully open. Let the engine work until it reaches normal operating temperature. Check your coolant level to see if it has dropped. You can always bleed the coolant system by leaving the coolant bottle cap off for 10 minutes whilst the engine ticks over. It isn't your water pump.

Do you need to replace it? It's within the cooling system and usually in a hose just off the engine block. You can follow the radiator piping back to the engine. But you're better off referring to a repair manual Lexus GS300 Repair Manual 1997 2005 Service Repair Manuals
