Kia Losing Oil
How old is this car. Sometimes the only way to get rid of a bad problem is to get a newer vehicle.

Firstly don't ever wish you was a guy because that wouldn't automatically make you understand cars, though it might make you mistakenly think you understand them. When females enter traditional male preserves and train to become plumbers, electricians, engineers or motor mechanics they mostly become very good and show the guys a thing or three...
Clearly the very first thing is to replace the timing belt. Fortunately lots of timing belt kits arrive with instructions and illustrations these days so there are few problems with timing.
Once fitted you will be able to attempt to start the engine but be aware if the timing did jump a few teeth some damage to the engine intake and exhaust valves might have occurred and if you are really unlucky the damage could be substantial. If the engine won't start and run I suggest you have a compression test or even better a cylinder leakage test.
When you hired the machine it might have told you useful information or it might have been misleading lies. Certainly it would be a good idea to look at No1 spark plug and maybe test the crank sensor but it is best to proceed slowly and tackle one job at a time because one type of fault tends to cause symptoms that cause the computer to believe there is a different sort of fault.

Have you checked your serpentine belt tensioner? You say that the belt seems 'taut', but that may not be as tight as it needs to be. Try dribbling some water from a hose over the belt while the engine is idling with a load on the alternator (lights on, a/c blower on high, etc), and see if the belt is slipping on the alternator. Watch out - be careful not to have your face in line with the belt, or you'll get soaked!
If the belt is slipping when wet, you may want to consider replacing your tensioner.

TCM and PCM, might be in the center dash under the radio area, but from the codes you gave, I would say it's more than likely a grounding problem causing communication problems.
