You have trans slippage. Check fluid level and condition. Your trans is probably fried.

Well, broken timing belt causes valves to break, valves can be changed but if your mechanic wants to change whole engine then you have to change a mechanic. I had broken timing belts on few cars and never needed to change whole engine. Unless second hand engine is cheaper then new valves for it.

Did the car overheat at one point? That's a symptom of an overheat and a cracked head.

you have got a cooling system problem sounds like just the thermostat is stuck open get it changed and that will also help the engine running problem

the problem is that you have allowed it to degenerate to the point where it can be a costly fix where at the time the engine light first came on , a trip to the local auto spares shop would result in a fault code reading for free have the fault codes read now check the oil levels and coolant levels at the radiator as it could be the result of and overheating peroblem

replace the problem purge solenoid on the EVAP system cannister

It should be underneath the air intake manifold just forward of injectors #2 & #3.

check your starter to see if it mite be stuck or wired wrong.

have it checked by an accredited service center

I am going to assume you have the 1.6l engine because it is a pretty common engine for Daewoo. I had a 2000 Daewoo Lanos with a 1.6L engine. It has been quite some time since I had the vehicle but the cam position sensor was easy to replace. If you remove the plastic engine cover, then remove the valve cover, you will notice that on the left side of the cams near the timing belt that the sensor sticks up slightly and you can see the electrical connection to the sensor. I do not remember if I had to remove the timing belt cover or not but I don't think I had to. If I remember right, it was either one or two screws holding the sensor in place.

That is usually the number one problem of overfilling. The transfer case has a vent tube and when overfilled, the excess fluid will go out the vent tube and all over everything underneath the car.
