I replaced my float assembly on a Polaris atp 500 2005. It will not idle. It starts and runs only if I give it gas. I tried the throddle screw it made the throddle more sensative or less but did not affect idle.

First, does the carb have gas in the float bowl? There is a screw or bolt in the very bottom of the carb's float bowl, loosen it and gas should flow freely, IF NOT,, there is the first problem you need to address. Check this and let me know. Doe the motor turn over freely? Does it have GOOD compression?
My 2005 Polaris ATP 500 requires I depress the right foot brake while shifting into reverse or down into low range. Perhaps some adjustment on the foot brake to make this work. Also check linkage to make sure it is not binding. Others say if the idle speed is too high, you may not be able to shift. Try shifting with the engine off to see if it goes into the gears, using the foot brake. If yes, try again while at low idle speed.
