Does the speedo not lighting up have anything to do with it not going into awd?

2008 Polaris Sportsman 800 Touring. Hard to shift, sticks in gear while running, have to raise rpm to get it out of gear but shifts fine while engine is off.

Hi,

Your clutch would usually be the issue. But your ATV has automatic clutch so we can disregard that.. I will get that you need to alter your final drive (ie check 2wd, awd etcc).

The problem could also be belt related, so you might want to check the status of the belt. If you need more help, you can also call Polaris at 1 (800) 765-274.

Thank you.

Hi my 7700 does not switch to 2wd. Light starts flashing when switch to 2wd. Stays on in 4wd

This is caused by the position switch not engaging inside. The light flashing means, internals was not able to activate the 2WD mechanical position. Try warming it up in the garage. I see this more often going into 4WD than 2WD, but theory is the same. Mechanism might of frozen while in 4WD.

2012 ranger xp 800 won't go into 4wd. Light comes on like before but stays in 2wd

check fuses wiring and connections ---check for power to the actuator --if good actuator can either be stuck which some lube can help or burnt out and will need replacement

Polaris scrambler 400 won't shift out of 4x4. Any ideas why ?

On a website where another guy had this problem, the previous owner told the new owner that he shifted it into 4x4 while in the mud and it is now stuck in AWD. According to Blueline15: "previous owner did a very bad thing. for anyone who doesnt know, remember this example. although you can flip the 4x4 switch while moving, if your back tires are spinning while in 2wd, you can not go into 4x4 or you will cause this problem. just remember this, the flip on the 4x4 the front wheels need to match the rear in wheel speed. so either be moving and not stuck, or come to a complete stop.

what happened is you have rollers in a plastic cage in the front end. when he hit the 4x4 button with the rears spinning, the torque going to the front gearbox while everything was at a stand still that it broke the roller cage.
You're looking at a few hundred dollars at a dealer, depending on how bad."

I hope this helps.

When I turn key on and kill switch is deactivated no electrics on dash electric start will not work.

Take your battery to O'Reilly's or AutoZone and have the CCA (Cold Cranking Amps) checked..(load test).. this WILL tell you if your battery is good or not.
Just because you have 12 VOLTS doesn't mean it's A GOOD BATTERY..You MUST have amperage to start/run your ATV
