1st. Get the carb cleaned and set by a professional. Needle and seat might need replacing. If your spark plug comes out black and sooty looking, you need to also replace the needle jet and jet needle!

SOURCE: lower carburetor flexible gas outline is draining

sounds like your carb float is stuck and your needle and seat is open allowing the bowl to fill with gas and run out the overflow. take off the bottom bowl of carb and check to see if the float has a hole in it.

Tao-tao 150. It starts and idles fine. When I press on the throttle, why does it die?

A lack of fuel. Obviously the idle/low speed circuit is working inside the carburetor, but the high speed circuit isn't flowing fuel. You need to disassemble the carb and remove the main jet and needle jet and clean the holes in each. Then with some aerosol carb cleaner, blow out all the passageways. If it can get fuel, the motor will accelerate. One final thing to check is the air filter. Clean as necessary.

Why does my ATV bog down and die when I keep the throttle wide open?

If you are lucky, you might just need new fuel filter and the fuel bowl cleaned out, and maybe new air filter. If not so lucky you need carburetor rebuilt. Backfire is usaully caused by engine running too lean ( too much air for the amount of fuel present). Fuel bowls get gunk in them and the fuel needles and fuel jets get varnished up. The accelerator pump gets worn out gaskets and/or bellows and doesn't give the right amount of fuel mist when you accelerate.

Full Choke is indicative of a motor starved for fuel

How do we keep our four wheeler running? it won't idle. it dies.

Sounds like a passageway may still be clogged. I suggest that you try dipping it in carb solution for a couple of hours, then rinse and blow out everything.

Why does the engine load up at higher rpms?

you might have a dirty carb.check the big jet in there as it might have a blockage.sounds like you have enough gas going through the small jet to start the quad and for slow speed but when you want to give it good power, it starts to bog down.do the carb thing first
