What was wrong with the old carburetor?? I have been working on motorcycles and ATV's for 40+ years... only replaced 5 carburetors..they were broken/damaged by the owner trying to "fix them" or corrosion damage from leaving gas in them for years...
It still sounds like you have a fuel delivery issue...check all your hoses..
get one of these... it will serve you well ...

Technically yes you can, HOWEVER!! The 23x8's are taller, thinner tyres so they might affect your speedo reading and handling if they are not a standard Polaris size. The front end will also ride a tiny bit higher than the rear end. If you haven't got the original handbook try contacting Polaris directly or a dealer with your vehicles details and ask them what sizes are recommended for your ATV.
ATV tyre sizes translate as follows... a 23x8-10 tyre will be-
= 23 inches in diameter measured all the way across the widest part of the whole tyre.
= 8 inches across the width of the tread of the tyre.
= 10 inch diameter of the actual wheel rim.
22x11-10 is 22 inches tall, 11 inches wide on a 10 inch rim.
23x8-10 is 23 inches tall, 8 inches wide on a 10 inch rim.

What sort of noise was it? Does the noise change with the throttle or with road speed?
First check your oil levels. I'm not sure if the prowler engine shares engine oil with the gearbox or is a separate oil system. A dry gearbox can make a lot of noise AND do a lot of damage.
If the noise changes with the throttle, ( not moving and revving the engine), it could be engine issues. If the noise only happens when your moving it could be gearbox or the drive parts to the wheels.

You should be able to replace the timing chain while the engine is on it as long as there is nothing in your way. Make sure you have enough clearance so you can work, and that you can remove the sprockets(if needed) and the old chain first. Be careful not to get too much dirt on the new chain.

Are you able to jack it up and turn the back tires by hand? If you can't check and see if the brake cable is correct and isn't too tight? But it could also be bad brakes, not enough brake fluid, or the biggest problem could be a bad brake master cylinder..

Are you getting any error messages?? Have your tried swapping the battery? Have you tired using a jumper pack to try and start it?

Hi there,

Have you check the valves and the valve gaps?? Sometimes but not always having the wrong valve gaps can cause backfires. Have you also tried tweaking the carburetor to try and improve the idle??

Have you checked the wiring on the relay all the way down to the frame and battery? Sometimes there is a hidden broken and exposed wire that is covered with dirt and makes an issue when it gets wet.

The 3000 mule I have worked on has a coil, wire which screws into the coil and spark plug boot.
Do you have power and ground connection at coil.
You said you replaced coil did the wire and spark plug boot get replaced also.
If there is any question about the connection between the coil, wire and boot you might try removing the coil, wire and boot from back cylinder and placing on front. Swap them and see if you loose spark on rear plug after swapping.
Just a thought.

It felt like a misfire b/c the bike would "stutter". I have never experienced anything like this before. I pulled my spark plug and it looked ok, maybe ... cutting out at 1/2-3/4 throttle problem!!!
