Slow cookers are designed specifically for slow and even cooking at low temperatures, whereas grills and griddles require higher temperatures and direct heat. Recommend to take the lid to a hardware stare, and let them remove the remaining screw and match it. Or, if there is but one screw, they can help you find a screw to fit. God bless your efforts.

Best advice is to get this cooker serviced as something is very wrong.

1. The thermostat may temporarily lose calibration due to temperature changes resulting in an E01 error message on the display. Repeat the following steps to reset the unit.

It looks rather like my slow cooker which has a 3 position switch with LOW, HIGH and AUTO.
AUTO uses a thermostat control to prevent the contents from boiling. Useful if being left unwatched. HIGH setting can cause burning if contents not stirred, and LOW setting is only of use to keep things warm. Hope that helped.
