It will only need setting up if the EEPROM has been changed and in that case follow the service instructions. Otherwise the main menu will give aspect ration and tuning adjustments.

The backlight is probably failing. Replace the backlight if a set is available.

As long as both TV and DVD player have arc enabled HDMI connections and you enable HDMI-CEC on the TV you should be good to go.

Yes as long as you have arc-hdmi input on Panasonic TV and arc-hdmi output on Toshiba dvd? If you have these connections then you might need to turn arc and cec on in the settings as by default they could be off.

The CT877 remote was included with several Toshiba TVs, including the 26DF56. Thus the programming codes for the remote are in the TV manual on pages 16-17.
