Lower the resolution of your laptop (or PC). With Windows update - assuming that's your OS - when you do an update, it might have also update the driver of your video card.

How to reset lamp hours on Sim 2 Domino 18
I am not familiar with your brand in particular but they are all pretty much the same. In the menu under settings you should be able to scroll to lamp settings. Under that category or something like that will be where you can reset the hours.
