Rubber coating breaking down

Try it with rubbing alcohol first - just keep it away from the optics, and you may get lucky. The only thing that ever seems to work with these is an abrasive cream cleaner (jif/cif or similar) - you just have to use lots of cream and be careful not to polish the optics - unfortunately the stickiness will come back quicker than before though. I haven't tried myself, but i have heard that once you have carried out the cream cleaner routine, you can paint the unit - ask your hardware shop what sort of rubbery paints they have - ideally oil based and not acrylic. It wont last as long as the original finish or like quite as good, but it should stop the stickiness for a while at least. Try and keep your binoculars out of the sun - most of the stickiness is either caused by that, or contact with a damaging chemical such as most insect repellents, or petroleum products. Hope this helps :)

My Sigma binoculars are small

Hi Helen, I'll try to assist you with this problem. It sounds like there has been a chemical deterioration of the enamel coating, and I doubt that there is an easy answer, since most people would have lost or broken the glasses by this time, so the problem wouldn't normally suface. The problem might be able to be curtailed by using a clear sealant on the emitting surfaces. I'm not certain which one would be best, but possibly a lacquer, or even clear fingernail polish might work well.
I would call around to some local camera repair shops, and see what they might suggest- there's the possibility that they've dealt with this problem before, in one form or another. They may also be able to suggest what woud be best to do, in this situation.
I really feel the body should be redone, but I don't know of anyone who does that.
Good luck, however, and hope this helps.

Cross hairs do not adjust. Tell me what to do please?

All question need FULL 'make model (what it is)'. You posted to optics, so let's guess is a telescopic rifle sight? It is impossible to see and movement as the crosshairs move such a tiny amount. Half a millimetre in the sight is 10 feet at the target. The only way to zero in sights is on a fixed bench rest at the range. If you really think they are faulty, return them to the maker for repair.

I have a NexStar 90GT with no hand control, a replacement will cost $135, is it worth it to buy for this telescope?

Whether or not it's worth it to buy a replacement hand control for your NexStar 90GT telescope depends on a few factors:
  1. How often do you use the telescope? If you use it frequently and rely on the hand control to find objects in the sky, then it may be worth it to invest in a replacement.
  2. How important is the hand control to your observing experience? If you're comfortable manually finding objects in the sky and don't necessarily need the hand control, then it may not be worth the expense.
  3. Can you find a cheaper alternative to the official replacement? Sometimes, third-party sellers may offer hand controls that are compatible with your telescope at a lower price.
Ultimately, it's up to you to decide whether the cost of the replacement hand control is worth it based on your individual needs and preferences.

No zoom function on a kalimar power zoom scope,

larry389's so-called solution is not a solution... just an opinion to which each individual is entitled... even when not correct! I've used a Zeika Opt. Co. Power Zoom Binocular No.25361 for over 25 years since inheriting them from my father who purchased them in early 1970. To say the least, treated carefully and with respect for the delicate instrument that they are, they've been wonderful and still work perfectly fine. Perhaps Larry's experience is based upon handling them like junk and, therefore, reaping what he has sewn.

I have a Whirlpool clean top stove with a cracked stove top. Can I get a replacement top & is it easy to install or do I need a professional to install it?

Yes, you can get a replacement stove top for your Whirlpool clean top stove, and it depends on the model and the availability of parts. You may contact Whirlpool customer service or check with a local appliance parts supplier to see if they have the replacement stove top in stock. As for the installation, it will depend on your level of experience and comfort working with appliances, as well as the specific model of your stove. Some stove tops may be relatively easy to install, while others may be more complex and require professional installation. Generally speaking, installing a replacement stove top can be a difficult and complex task that requires a certain level of technical knowledge and expertise. It's recommended to consult the stove's user manual or contact Whirlpool customer service for assistance with installation instructions or to find a professional to do the installation.
