I purchased a Mossberg 500

A Mossberg 500 is a pump shotgun, not a break barrel over/under. I'd guess it's user error, myself.

I have a mossberg 835

I'm beginning to hate this format. Answers out of order, answers on the wrong questions, questions skipped for months at a time. Your 835, have you by any chance changed the forearm slide action tube? If you have and you used a model 500 tube, the 500 tube is about a half inch too short. It won't trip the stops on an 835 and you'll get the probs you are now. No feeds, no ejections. Try a real 835 slide tube.

Mossberg 88. after closing

Weak main spring. It's the back-most pin in the trigger group. The spring isn't moving fast enough to get the hammer past the half **** notch on the hammer. It's catching the sear. In a pinch, you can just jerk the trigger extra stout, no hesitation. If you have a decent stone, you can stone off the half **** notch on the hammer. The half **** is when you pull the trigger group out of the gun and hold the hammer lightly as you pull the trigger. The spot where the hammer locks straight up and down is the half **** notch. Current hammers don't have the half ****....it's simply not necessary. It was a redundant safety feature if the gun ever fell hard when cocked and chambered. It causes more probs than it fixes, though. You can replace your hammer with a new part....all of them fit including the Mossberg 500 lines....or you can stone the notch yourself....or you can replace the main spring. All will fix your prob. Great gun, btw! I have one and love it!

Broken forearm on a mossberg 535 shotgun

I'd be amazed if Mossberg didn't have one available. Give them a call.

What is the difference between

The 535 is simply a slightly stretched model 500. It can chamber and fire 3.5" shells where the 500 will only handle up to 3" shells. The guns are identical in function and pretty much identical in parts except the stretched bits.

Tom, it's been five years on this one of yours. Do you by any chance still need it answered? Just asking because it's a sort of long answer and I'm not quite up to typing it if no one needs the info ;) Does ANYONE need help on a dropping shell problem with a Mossy 500?

I just sold a Mossberg 500 with that stock on it and I don't remember having a problem with the end. Did you get the pistol grip or just the tube with the hand strap up front? I am wondering if it isn't made for the extended magazine. I would have to check into that.

Hello, does the mosberg 1000

A shotgun will shoot anything shorter than the max length specified. The only problem you may have is lightly loaded smaller shells may not cycle your gun. Most 3" magnum semi autos will cycle 2 3/4 inch shells just fine.

Forearm for a mossberg 500

Try Numrich Gun Parts. They may have what you need. They are on the web, but if you don't see what you need, give them a call. They may be able to round one up for you.

I bought a new mossberg

Personally, with that many problems, I'd call Mossberg and get a return authorization. None of these things should be happening, especially with a new gun.

I have a Mossberg 800ASM

Pulling the trigger while inserting the bolt will move the sear out of the way and allow you insert the bolt. This is the reverse of what may have happened when the bolt came out in your hand.

I have a mossberg 4x4

I would suggest that the firing pin channel needs to be cleaned. There may be a bit of crud or rust that is keeping the firing pin from applying a consistent strike to the primer. There may also be a burr that needs to be cleaned up.

Just purchased mossberg 935 used gun from cabelas

Hows it goin-

From what I understand, the 935 is a Magnum gun. Therefore it will have some ejection problems with the lighter loads. Ive also been told by multiple people (I am a Firearms Outfitter at Cabelas, Idaho) that the 930 and the 935 are prone to jam... a lot. Personal experience, none....but I talk to a lot of die hard gun users daily.

Also known to be problematic on this firearm are some of the plastic parts on the 935 breaking, namely the forearm retainer and or the pusher assembly. Someone else is bound to speak up here, but I would think your best bet is to jump up to some 3in shells. Hope it works out for you.

Check out Cabelas Website in the "Chat Forum" section. There are some good discussions about your firearm.
