A few things to check... obviously if they work fine for a few years you have the knock out plug removed...

So... next is the hose... there is an algae that can grow in the hose that is almost invisible....take the hose off and run fresh water through it to make sure it is clean...

Then when replacing the hose, make sure that it runs continuously downhill and that it is not trapped... or in other words go up and down... this will air lock the hose and keep the water from flowing....

Then test it by pouring water into the bucket and making sure that it runs out...

Skooter, the problem you're having is a result of either the drain hose being clogged or the inner tubing of the hose connection is clogged. When this happens the water is diverted into the bucket. To solve the problem do the following:

Turn the unit OFF & unplug it. Using an appropriately sized, 18" long, plastic Zip Tie, carefully insert the tip of Zip Tie into the hose connection and tubing. Continue to push it in until you reach a bend in the tubing. You will need to gingerly work the Zip Tie past this bend, until it either bottoms out or you run out of usable Zip Tie. Then slowly pull the Zip Tie back out while rotating (twisting) it. This will breakup any clogs. As you reach the inserted end of the Zip Tie, be prepared, as some water may follow. Reconnect the hose, plug the unit in and turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON. Set the humidity extraction level to 35% or Maximum if you have a manually controlled unit. Allow the unit to run, while you monitor the hose end for water flow. . Be patient, as it may take up to 10 minutes or water for water to appear.

NOTE: If you don't have a Zip Tie, you may use something similar ( i.e.a long pipe cleaner), but NO wire coat hangers

Patti, the problem is not the drain hose (unless it's clogged or exceeds 48" in length). The internal drain tubing to the hose connection is clogged. When this happens, water is diverted to the water collection bucket. To unclog the tubing do the following:

Using an appropriately sized, 18" long, plastic Zip Tie, carefully insert the tip of Zip Tie into the hose connection hole and tubing. Continue to push it in until you reach a bend in the tubing. You will need to gingerly work the Zip Tie past this bend, until it either bottoms out or you run out of usable Zip Tie. Then slowly pull the Zip Tie back out while rotating (twisting) it. This will breakup any clogs. As you reach the inserted end of the Zip Tie, be prepared, as some water may follow. Reconnect the hose, plug the unit in and turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON. Set the humidity extraction level to 35% or Maximum if you have a manually controlled unit. Allow the unit to run, while you monitor it for water flow. It may take 10 to 15 minutes for the water to start flowing, so be patient.

It may simply be the case of the bucket not being reinstalled properly or that the float valve in the bucket is stuck in the up position, from lying on it's back. Turn the unit OFF & unplug it, before checking these 2 things.

No need to take the unit apart. The "gunk" or clog is he inner tubing of the hose connection.
To solve the problem, do the following:

Turn the unit OFF, unplug it and disconnect the hose.

Using an appropriately sized, 18" long, plastic Zip Tie, carefully insert the tip of Zip Tie into the hose connector & tubing. Continue to push it in until you reach a bend in the tubing. You will need to gingerly work the Zip Tie past this bend, until it either bottoms out or you run out of usable Zip Tie. Then slowly pull the Zip Tie back out while rotating (twisting) it. THE LOWER THE % SETTING, THE MORE MOISTURE THE DEHUMIDIFIER WILL REMOVE!!!
I have a Provic dehumidifier mainly to remove damp from walls in my 1900s terraced house ( 3rd DPC failed, another on its way). I've read a lot about the technical side and all I wanted to know was 'do i set it on the highest or lowest % to extract moisture from the walls'. I rang the Managing Director at Provic (his contact details are given on their website) who was very helpful. He advised that the lower the setting, the more damp would be removed from the walls and therefore the air, as the water passes from the wall into the air. My DH ranges from 40% to 70% so he advised me to set it at 40% in the worst affected room to remove as much moisture as possible from the walls. As the moisture is removed, the DH will collect less water and set itself to the correct level anyway. He advised me that when as much water as possible has been removed from this room and the DH % will not drop any lower, to move it to a more central position in the house, such as the hallway to then start setting the rest of the house to the correct humidity level. I set the DH to 40% and left it on overnight closing all doors to the affected room and removing containers of water such as a vase of flowers. When I got up in the morning it had switched itself off as it had already collected 3 litres of water! You do have to be careful not to over dry the air as everything, furniture and electricals, naturally needs moisture, but for a short term, quick drying solution, this level is ok.

Robert, The water tubing that runs form the interior of the unit to the water bucket is clogged to solve this problem, turn the unit OFF & unplug it. Then do the following.

Remove the water collection bucket and look up inside the bucket holder cavity. You will see either a drain hole or small tubing that drains the water into the bucket. Using an appropriately sized, 18" long, plastic Zip Tie, carefully insert the tip of Zip Tie into the hole or tubing. Continue to push it in until you reach a bend in the tubing. You will need to gingerly work the Zip Tie past this bend, until it either bottoms out or you run out of usable Zip Tie. Then slowly pull the Zip Tie back out while rotating (twisting) it. This will breakup any clogs. As you reach the inserted end of the Zip Tie, be prepared, as some water may follow. Reinstall the bucket, plug the unit in and turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON. Set the humidity extraction level to 35% or Maximum if you have a manually controlled unit. Allow the unit to run, while you monitor it for any leakage.

NOTE: Is you don't have access to a Zip Tie, you can use something similar that flexible, like a long pipe cleaner. But, NO wire coat hangers.

There are 5 basic, but solvable reasons for what you described. Of these 5 you have already completed 2 of them.

1. The humidity extraction level is set to HIGH. Lower it to 32-35%.

2. Air intake filter is dirty or clogged. Turn unit OFF, & Unplug the
Unit, before removing to inspect & clean it, if necessary. If washed,
allow filter to completely dry before reinstalling. DO NOT operate
the unit without the filter.

3. Obstructed air flow. Maintain a minimum of 12 to 18" of clear air
space around the entire unit.

4. Cooling coils are dirty and need to be cleaned. Use warm water & dish washing liquid to
clean the coils. Rinse and wipe dry. Apply a light coating of WD40 to the coils.

5. Ambient air temperature at floor level is between 40 - 60 degrees.
dehumidifiers do not work well between those temperatures
(Unless, you have a Low Temp Unit). This applies mainly to
where the air temperature at floor level is colder than at shoulder level
in basement applications. Raising the unit up off the floor,
onto a sturdy table, counter top, etc, that can handle the weight
of the unit, plus a full tank of water, will usually resolve this
problem.

If none of the above solves the problem, it may be a case of the compressor needs to be recharged with refrigerant gas or that the humidity condenser sensor has failed. These things usually occur in units that are 5 years old or older. It's rare in a unit younger than that. But, it can happen

More than likely, the float valve in the water collection bucket is stuck in the DOWN position. There for the automatic shut off does recognize that the bucket is full. Remove the bucket and check the float valve in the top of the bucket. If it's stuck in the down position, jiggle the arm to get to return to the UP position. Be sure to turn the unit OFF & unplug it before doing the above.
