Ours did the same thing after about 3 months. Found out there is a thermal fuse in the red power wire in the base of the unit. It's visible after taking off the bottom cover. Just follow the red wire from where the power cord plugs in until you see a 'bump' in it covered by a clear tube. This is the fuse. We contacted Maxi-Matic and they said they have had problems with this fuse blowing and did not know the cause at the time. When it 'blows' (internally), the power circuit is opened, thus your unit will not power back on. They sent us a new one for free as ours was still under warranty. Their P/N is TF128C. We really use our unit a lot and didn't want to wait for it to arrive, so I went to Radio Shack and bought the same sized thermal fuse from them and put it in. Their P/N is 270-1322 and was less than $2. Since then we have not had any power problems. I am guessing they got a bad batch of thermal fuses from their supplier.

If it is the type of switch I am think it is, it has a couple of catches for snapping it in to its fitting. You should be able to get a replacement from an electrical supply store like Viking Electric or Grainger.

This may sound to elementary, but did you check your outlet with another appliance to see if it works? If so, then most likely your problem is the thermo fuse is bad. If it is bad, you will not get any power to the unit. It's located in the bottom in the red wire between where the plug connects and the circuit board. It is not like a regular fuse that you can see if it's blown by looking at it - you need to use a simple ohms test meter. Ours blew once and I replaced it with one I bought from Radio Shack, P/N 270-1322 and so far have had no problems with power.

There are no replacement parts available.

What you are looking for does not exist. You can get a manual from the customer support sectionsof nostalgic electronics web site, but it does not have parts or diagrams.

The most common failure is the thermal cutoff (a resister like component that acts like a fuse). To find it turn your cooker over and remove the bottom. Look for the component (likely hidden inside a braided insulation). replace with one with the same temperature rating or if not printed on it get 185 degrees celcius.

Check the wires to the motor assembly, short of that it is not fixable.
