do exactly this:
- power off monitor with the POWER button!
- unplug power cord
- hold -/+ and keep holding them when briefly pressing POWER to get the monitor back on
- press menu
You are now in the service menu. Adjust the settings as you like.
- press EXIT
- power off monitor with button
- power on monitor with button
- AUTO SETUP... will be performed
- re-adjust brightness/contrast
Done!

Screen fade to black after several minutes,
move the mouse u will get everything back plus right click on ur desktop go to properties and go to screen saver and change the mins so it don't switch after a couple of mins

hi how old is ur monitor? is it a old type or a lcd.....in any case i would not open it ....if its a old monitor put it in the trash......and get a new one.....other wise if u have lcd get it checked out .....

I have such iiyama AS4636D monitor. In this day purchase.
I have such problem with you.
My solution:
Desktop pc and lcd power off (230VAC or 110VAC)
Power on lcd, after early desktop pc.
This moment, when running the pc booting, press and hold you the " + " button.
In this moment come in one blue screen. May be running on the sreen short message: check or select input mode: VGA DVI 1 2 . Select your correct cable connection type.

Monitor speakers
i do not know that but if it run under windows xp you can try in this
way . if you click on windows start with mouse you have to reach
control panel and after that there is (in classic diplay ) sound and
peripherals , there yopu can try to check for the speakers if they are
connected or not - i hope it was correct - delfo
