Was the burning a burned rubber smell? Maybe its your belt. either off track or worn down and motor is spinning but the belt is not turning. Just something to check.

Try one thing... the filter cover must be clicked into place. I thought it just sat on top, but it has to be pushed into place.

Check the hose coming out of the floor assembly. It tends to split, keeping it from picking up the water

Bank's Vacuum has the manual for the Hoover Spot Scrubber (Model FH10025, aka Hoover MultiSurface Deluxe Portable Cleaner):
They also currently show it in stock, whereas most places no longer carry this model.

I think you have 2 problems:
1. The LiNX gets clogged somethings in the head unit and the clog is difficult to see. Remove the head (via the push button). and clean out the clog. I do this with a lenngth of coat hanger wire that I bent a small hock on to the end.
2. If the roller stops turning it can be caused by one of the power wires to the moter getting severed in the swivel connection in the head unit. This has happened to us twice. I took the unit apart (a pain) and was able to fix by soldering and taping wires. However, Hoovers design is not great in getting power to the motor and this may recur. I love these vacuums and I hope they engineer a more robust wie feeding solution.

Could be draining from your sink outlet. Ensure the outlet pipe is routed higher than the sink trap. Normally attached underside of the work surface.

Take vacuum and belt to Hoover vacuum cleaner belt dealer and try smaller belts until one fits.

here are what the numbers mean. 5 is probably throwing the others but you'll need a service tech to know for sure.
have you unplugged/cut off power to it for 10 min to see if it may possibly reset? Worth a try anyway.

Error 1 Door safety lock error
  • Check door is closed and latched correctly
  • Check wiring
  • Check door lock
  • Check drum braking device if fitted
Error 2 Not filled in preset time allowed - washing machine does not fill
  • Check mains water pressure
  • Check inlet hoses for kinks
  • Check inlet filter
  • Check water inlet valve
  • Pressure switch fault
  • Wiring fault
Error 3 Not drained in time allowed - washing machine fails to drain water
  • Check that filter is not blocked or obstructed
  • Check drain hose is clear of any blockage or obstruction
  • Check wiring to drain pump
  • Check drain pump is not defective
  • Check level sensor or switch
  • Check wiring to level sensor
Error 4 Multiple instances of anti-flood contacts in pressure switch being made
  • Check for overfoaming evidence - can trip pressure switch
  • Check wiring to level sensor
  • Check pressure switch is not defective
  • Water inlet valve locked open
Error 5 NTC fault - temperature sensor detected as either open circuit or shorted
  • Check wiring to temperature sensor
  • Check thermistor
Error 6 EEPROM failure - defective electronic controller
  • Check wiring
  • Check electronic control PCB
Error 7 Motor fault detected
  • Check motor connector block
  • Check wiring
  • Check motor carbon brushes
  • Check tacho connections
  • Check motor
Error 8 Motor tacho fault - washing machine motor tacho detected as open circuit or shorted
  • Check motor connector block
  • Check wiring
  • Check tacho connections

Error 9 Short circuit motor triac on electronic module
  • Check wiring
  • Check electronic controller
Error 12 Communication error between electronic control boards and wiring
  • Check wiring and harness between control boards

Error 14 Water heating error detected
  • Check wiring to wash heater and thermostats
  • Check wash heater for continuity

Error 16 Water heating element detected as short circuit
  • Check for defective electrical insulation

Error 18 Defective control module - also can be wrong electrical input frequency
  • Check wiring to electronic controller or both if two used

  • Check mains electrical supply
