Am trying to fix my retractable mouse. do you have

No pix or diagram, but you'll see a coil spring that provides the retracting function, plus one very small ball bearing that provides the holding function. The ball bearing sits on a dimple in the case and "lodges" itself in a groove in the top plate, so that whenever you rotate the case all the way around once, the ball bearing falls into the dimple and locks the two pieces together until you yank the cord. The cord just wraps around the case and there is enough friction between the cord and the case that as you pull/slide the cord, it winds the spring. What happens most of the time is that the case/plate slips apart and the tension comes off, and/or the ball bearing drops out.I took the plate off the case (a small phillips screw), rewound the spring a couple of turns, rewrapped the cable, very carefully put the ball bearing in the groove, and put the screw back in. It was difficult, and you should do it with tacky paper on your work surface because I dropped the ball bearing quite a few times.Earlier in this column, someone said send it back in for warranty. almost worth it to do that, because the small pieces can be frustrating to deal with.

click start control panel administrative tools computer management device manager scroll down universal serial bus controllers you could see a yellow question / exclamation mark? ! or a red X

you will need to update/reinstall drivers

right click to reinstall drivers

if you can see your usb drive but its not working

ports (com&lpt) right click update driver if this fails to fix the problem

check the USB leads that attach to the motherboard usually red white green black make sure they are securely seated and have no dust build up on them dust will cause static and a lot of unforeseen problems for a computer and its parts

My pen drive has become write protected and now I

Hi Sir.
Please look carefully at your usb pen-drive to see if there is a small switch on there somewhere that is used to lock and unlock the drive. perhaps you may have accidentally put it in the lock position.
If there is a laser pointer on the drive then using the laser pointer may have caused you to accidentally switch to the write protected mode. most drives have a lock/unlock switch on the pen-drive itself...unless it has a program installed on the drive that has encrypted and locked the drives read/write ability. Please let me know if you have success.
Thank you!
