Without seeing plates it is hard call. personally I would remove old plate and install new plate in accordance with instructions. You want to not void warranty by using old plate. There should screws into the studs this is the desired mounting. You can use your knuckle and tap across the wall, when you reach stud the sound will be different. Good Luck
when I replaced MW units for customers I always used supplied parts. I have also been called to correct installation by store. the people they sent should not been allowed to attempt the project ( I didn't mind as i charged for my time and tools and knowledge.)

Which model do you have? One microwave in this series is the PSA9120SFSS. To set the clock, press Settings (second from the bottom on the left of the Control Panel). Turn the dial to Clock Settings. Check the LCD screen to select Set Clock. Turn the dial to set the hour, including AM or PM. Press the dial to save this. Then turn the dial to set the minutes. Press the dial to save the current time

The manual for the PSA9120SFSS is available from GE on the Product page: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-specs/PSA9120SFSS?bvstate=pg:5/ct:q . See the Service & Support tab and look in the left hand column. The current link to the manual is https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-40677-4.PDF . See page 26 of the manual for the information.

I hope this helps.

Unlock what?

GE Microwave... | Answered on Nov 03, 2018

You may possibly have an issue with one of the door switches or its mount may be loose, misaligned, or broken.

You you can see my door switch help file here:
http://www.microwavecontrol.com/doorsw.htm

But it's more likely that you have a shorted cook relay. Instead of having to buy a whole new board, I can repair your circuit board for much less.

Feel free to email me directly, and be sure to remind me of your full model number and your detailed symptoms.

An F3 error code indicates that the keypad for the control panel is bad or has a short.

I would first advise unplugging the oven for a minute or so and then plugging it back in and then seeing if proper operation is restored.

Then if you still have questions, please let us know the full model number from the tag inside the cooking cavity.

Try unplugging it from the wall for a minute and then plug it back in and try it.

If you still have trouble, I would need a little more information.

Are you saying that the keypad is unresponsive?

Or that you can program it, but it won't start when you hit the "Start" key?

Feel free to contact me for more help.

Whatever size matches threads in microwave.

The damper is a door inside that opens or closes depending on cooking mode (open for microwaving, closed for convection cooking). If the controller senses that the door is not in the right position, it will shut down the cook cycle or display an error code.

This is a problem in one of the damper-related components, either the damper switch or damper motor, or the damper door may be binding.

I can provide more specific help if you will let me know your full model number as shown on the tag inside the cooking cavity or around the door area.

To set the clock on most GE microwaves:
1 With the microwave door closed, press CLOCK.
2 Touch number pads that reflect the time of day (1:45 would be 1, 4, 5).
3 On some newer models, indicate AM or PM for morning or evening.
4 Press CLOCK or START to lock in the time.
If you prefer not to display the time:
Disconnect the power for 30 seconds. After restoring power, do not set the clock. If your model has an ON/OFF clock display, you can choose not to have the time displayed. To choose this option, press the 0 pad for about three seconds. To Turn the display back on, press the 0 again.

If you’ve followed instructions in owners manual, then it’s probably a control panel / display problem
