How old is the pump? Short possibly in the windings of the motor? Just spit balling here.

Did you note to where the 5 wires were attached to the old switch? Does the switch resemble the other less a terminal? No instructions with the new switch?

There must be a hairline crack to where it is only noticeable when the pump starts to run creating a vacuum.

I would say to replace the switch but if you know how to meter it; that would definitely tell you. Also check for obstructions.

Is the pump a 120 or 230v pump? Is it grounded properly?

Might be a bad float switch, bad relay kicking out, or possibly the motor tripping it's thermal protection if it's getting hot.

recheck the seal -gasket and housing [crack or warpage]

found out the pipe had two flanges now only has one the seal is suposed to seat in between both flanges but side nearer pump has gone carnt complain too much 456,000 ks is a good run

Hi have you removed the pump from the well and tested if it will run without going via the presure switch. It could be that the pump is blocked. If it is blocked and has been for a while it may well have burnt out the pump. How deep is your well and how far from the bottom of the well is the pump. The pump should be positioned a good distance from the bottom of the well to prevent any silt getting into the pump to block it. I have a 110 meter deep well and the water level is 38 meters below ground. I have the pump at 50 meters below ground. I have only changed the pump once in 10 years. I hope this helps Steve

From the Melnor 304f actual instructions: Use 9V alkaline batter only! Flashing lighs indicate that the battery is low and needs to be replaced. 1) To start: Turn Dial to Off position and press ENTER 2) Set Time: set the current time and press ENTER 3) Start Time: set the time to start the first irrigation cycle and press ENTER. 4) Frequency: Set the frequency of the irrigation cycle e.g. twice a day = 12h and press entere. 5) Duration: Set the duration of the first irrigation cycle and press ENTER. -- to change the duration Turn the dial to the new duration and press ENTER --to turn the water on manually Turn dial to ON position.. The water will turn off automatically after 30 minutes. -- to turn the water OFF Turn the dial to the OFF position Do NOT press ENTER when dial is in OFF position, otherwise the unit will clear the program, and you have to Reprogram the unit following the steps 2 through 5.

Sprinklers installation, especially pop up sprinkler installation is not simple generally.I tried installing it in agricultural land as per the advice of my friend.He also assisted me.But afterwards i had to call a professional to complete the installation.But i think for a garden we can do the installation our own.
