That unit is 9 years old, what software came with it?

This problem happens from my experience, mostly on graphics cards. I think I would make a new folder on my desktop, name it something like abcd, and copy the installation folder to there. Do not move - copy! Then I would rename the installation folder to something shorter, like efgh. Then install from efgh. This has worked for me.

Something inside the tuner has gone bad. I had a sub video grabber do the same to me. I had to replace the grabber

What exactly are the symptoms? You may be able to do the repair yourself, or it may be cheaper to buy a new card.

Quality is definitely a factor here. Set tape speed to SP. Standard Play. It uses the most tape, and use a newer tape if possible.You can also try converting to a newer format like MP4. This is the new standard for web videos. Older codecs might be an issue.
