The machine keeps breaking the thread, how do I fix it
Thread breaks are caused by one of quite a number of reasons on any machine. It could be that there is a burr on the needle plate or along the thread path that is fraying the thread or the needle might be damaged or not seated properly. Another common reason is that the cone of thread has aged and rotted or the thread is simply not traveling in the proper path. And one issue that causes thread breaks, most especially in winter months or in naturally dry environments is a lack of humidity. Use a humidity gauge to determine the humidity around the machine and when the gauge drops below 25, run a humidifier to maintain the humidity up to an average of 30-40 percent.
How to disassemble
The entire tension assembly will come out intact. There should be a screw (usually about 8-9 oclock) that holds the unit in place. Loosen it and pull assembly out. There will be another screw that holds the big round part (that was back in the machine before removing). Loosen and slide off, then remove and replace spring. Make sure when you install that its not in too far that it keeps your tension discs open all the time or you won't be able to adjust the tensions.
The bobbin case catches the needle and the thread wraps around the bobbin case
If you are saying the needle is hitting the bobbin case when it goes down then it could be one of two things:
1. Bobbin case not all the way in. This can be caused by debris in the rotary hook or the bobbin case has been hit by the needle and has cracked/and or bent it. Make sure it is snapping into place correctly.
2. The rotary hook is out of time. Reset the rotary hook point behind the needle and about the middle of the scarf of the needle. Make sure you run the needle all the way down and as it starts back up this is where you set the hook.
My sewiing machine is sewing backwards, how can I fix that
oh my that gave me a good laugh and I really needed it.
before finding an authorized dealership/ repair shop, i would open it up and make sure it is free and clear of dust thread and dirt. I bet you find stuff in it that locked it into reverse.... good luck
I need to know how to time it. It just sits in one
If the feed dog stays in one position and just moves up and down, and doesn't pull the fabric through, press on the button in the bed closest to the needle bar. Hold it down and rotate the wheel. This adjusts stitch length/feed dog travel. There should be numbers on the wheel or under a flat metal panel next to the wheel. The numbers are for stitches per inch.
The problem you describe isn't timing, it's most likely stitch/feed dog adjustment.
