Canon CanoScan - Recent Questions, Troubleshooting & Support - Page 8

Look at the bottom of the scanner and there should be a lock/unlock slider. Unlock it and see what happens.
If it is already unlocked then the drive/stepper motor or belt is bad.

hi um i don't know if this will actually work but it did for me, I had 2 problems with the lide 60 scanner-one was a connection/cable thing and another was this "TWAIN source thing" and after installing this:
http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=DownloadDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=351&modelid=11446
i seem to only have one....i think the connection/cable got fixed.
oh well, give it a try anyway :) cant hurt

Driver mismatch - the driver of the scanner has forgotten the location of the TWAIN driver because another software has been using it lately. Follow this

This is an issue with the Driver Installation, Get the drivers Uninstall and reinstalled from the CD.

Mine was doing the same thing. When I get on the program, before I click "acquire" to preview and scan, I click OFF the toolbox and then everything seems to be okay and I can go ahead and scan.

Hi there, yes I did everything per your instructions, Toolbox is installed and it still says, "release the lock switch, detach I/F cable and reconnect. Scanner driver will be closed" and then after clicking on that it says "Unable to open TWAIN source. Please check connection then restart toolbox" I have been to the Canon site and downloaded driver sites and it says everything is working. but when I go to scan it comes up with the boxes I said before. Quite lost at the moment? Thanks Maureen. PS I have unstalled and reinstalled

check the lenght of the cable

Canon CanoScan... | Answered on Mar 23, 2015

Check the lock switch and make sure it is unlocked. I think the lock switch is on the bottom...or it may be under the lid near one of the hinges. Flip it back and forth and leave it in the unlocked position.

If this doesn't work, then it will most likely need service. Contact Canon Tech Support.

No mention of your OS so it's only a guess; if your OS is older than the scanner, it may not have a driver to install.

Check with the Canon website for a driver for your Operating System.

I had the same problem. My solution is: "Just go to settings on Canoscan Toolbox. Then go to copy button, drop down and select scan2. This comes "Copy" as default setting. Change it to scan2. Click ok. On Canoscan toolbox main interface click scan2 and bingo, you'll see film option on select source . Hope this works

Start by replacing power cable. Sometimes cables seem to be ok and they are not.

This will only work with Windows 7 - 32bit OS. I personally reinstalled windows 7 - 32 bit. Had too many problems with the 64bit OS and all by Older software. Could not afford to buy all new hardware and software for use on a 64bit system.
