No more than likely there is a split in the drain line going to the drain or a o ring is leaking. The way to find out is to initiate a regeneration and watch and see just where the leak is coming from. This is why a service tech cost so much is watching, time cost money.

hi . sounds like the check valve ? float mechanism is stuck or seized. When you open the brine lid you should see a hollow tube in one of the corners. some have a cap on top which helps keeping salt out of the chamber so the fill? shut off valve doesnt get blocked or stuck. . You should be able to see the fill hose on top and reach down and lift the rod up and should go back down on its own. It works like the toilet flush tank valve works. Good luck.

usually;y means that the media in the tube where the valve control is located is fowled and needs new media. the odd time you can add a solution which breaks down iron etc however its not uncommon to see a softener last under 10 years these days. The hard water minerals , calcium etc. stick to the little beads until they can no longer and thats when the ion exchange occurs the salt brine is used to clean and flush the media. If your handy you can save a lot of money as the top ( valve assembly unscrews and you can lift the top off and expose the media and dump it out and rinse the tank. add the media and you can usually find the amounts it will need by looking on the valve info sheet. If not call your local water company and get the tech, to tell you the amount needed , some also have a bed of stone in the bottom then the media. Make sure the bypass is on or turn off the main water supply and disconnect any power source that is if you have a digital display. youtube has manny helpful step by step videos and where i learned how to do mine a year ago. my total cost was 110.00 CDN. and 2 hours of my time and also changed the rubber seals on valve and bypass. good luck
