I have been searching as well, to date, it still won't power on even after replacing the battery, getting a charger and charging the old battery. I also used the reset button and no help. I asked Grundig / Eton for help a couple of times and no response. Very disappointing, it is like Grundig isn't around any more or won't support their own products any more.

The various Garrard decks offered audio manufacturers a smart looking piece of equipment of sufficient quality at low cost.

Mostly the deck received little or no maintenance and remained reliable only long enough for them to go out of fashion. Given sensible maintenance the deck could have a fairly long and happy life. Many redundant decks had the damaged, worn out or seized linkages stripped out and found a second life in the early discotheques as purely manual decks, such was the relative reliability of the motor and drive.

The most common problem apart from neglected mechanicals was the rubber tyre on the idler wheel would become hardened and wood-like losing drive friction and need replacing fairly regularly.

Not sure why it won't stay running. I seem to remember a few adjustments are possible and there is a switch under the turntable or underneath. You need to remove the deck from the cabinet and remove the turntable and study the internals, check the wiring, switch and so forth.

First, try pressing long press on the eject button and see if that works.

If not, try pulling the tray towards you using anything thin and sturdy something, put a little force but don't break it. Some cd players would eject on that trick.

If still not, turn it off so your cd will stop spinning and you have to manually unscrew the top to get your cd back.

Yes and no. A turntable fitted with a high output ceramic or crystal cartridge will work but a typical turntable fitted with a magnetic cartridge produces only a few millivolts, not enough for what is essentially a "line in" input needing around half a volt to drive the unit satisfactorily.

You will need to obtain a preamplifier with RIAA correction to boost the output from the turntable.

no one can tell what speakers to buy. I have bose301 and AR10 pi(AR10ipi $800.00 each), but budget is yours. I would buy from a reputable store that sell quality audio items. Buy from amazon and try a pair if you don't like them return them under A-Z return. Do not fall for digital speakers, it turns to analog at speaker, just regular speakers will do..
