Patio Heaters - Recent Questions, Troubleshooting & Support

For safety... your unit has a FLAME DETECTOR...

Quite typically this is a thermocouple...
Which requires heat be constantly present for the
main gas valve to remain "ON".

Again typically ... the instructions will
say the pilot area must be clean & free of debris
(never found it any other way)...

and...

Make sure the thermocouple is INTO the flame..
(again... never found it any other way).

Failing these "REMEDIES" the first real
REMEDY IS OFFERED...

REPLACE THE THERMOCOUPLE...

Since most heaters, water heaters & the like share common thermocouples... it is probably SAFE TO ASSUME
LAVA HEAT... will have their own PROPRIETARY VERSION...

(at least that is what the SRPH30-XXXX series manual
seems to indicate you MUST contact them (heaters
can be quite DANGEROUS... BETTER to do that
EXACTLY as instructed))....

Greg...

The lighting PROCESS involves HOLDING that
"PRESS MODE" for QUITE a (long) WHILE...
To clear the AIR out of your fuel line...

I have seen ... Up to 5 minutes
(
although I believe that is excessive)...

It is MOST LIKELY your troubles are procedural.

if its the original model number without an b at the end it is supposed to shut off, if it is the 4604b the added a feature to keep the fan running anytime power was on to keep it from burning up the power strip, this was a temporary fix, i just picked up a new on tonight under warranty and it has a feature that lets the fan run for a while and then shut off, the newest model number is HA24-50m, is is the same heater as original but now only has 5000w and 3000w options on switch, good luck finding a listing but this is the heater northern tools gives you when they replace the 4604. im pretty computer savvy and i can not find any site that is for profusion heaters as a company, here is a number for tech support you can call, 1-866-206-0888

there has been some debate about it, in America they are seen as environmentally friendly, but in the UK they are seen as more carbon intensive

Does it matter if the thermostat is 120v or 250v?

Our heater cuts off after 2 mins or less and it shoe 90 on the temps diplay. Had it for a couple of years. It's been vacuum and clean and still the same results. I don't have the schematic or the owners manual..

I would read the customer reviews on this product , looks like nearly 70% of consumers are less than happy with this unit.

1500 watts is the units peak output, and drops to around 600 as it warms up. My hair blower puts out more power.

1500 watts is LESS than the output of a small element on your stove top. The real measure of heat is not watts, its BTUs and btus from gas are much cheaper than they are from electricity.

It may be getting too hot and activating the safety shut off. This may need a new board. I have never worked on one of these but it has to be fixable. Depending on the cost of the unit as to whether or not it is worth it.
