You should be grooming your horse lightly every day. You should brush its hair, remove burs and make sure that it doesn't have any caked on mud. If you over groom your horse daily, you can accidentally take away some of the natural oils and minerals his body needs to stay healthy.

look at your nearest Tractor Supply, Wal-Mart, or Sears... find mulching blade for your size mower, swap the blades be sure the blade has the right center pattern

try to turn it counter clockwise and be sure to follow wind pattern for trimmer cord. be sure tabs are lined up hold base with a pair of channel lock pliers

Replace it, grind off the rivets and remove all the wood and replace with a new handle. Or you can make one from a Hickory limb or other hard wood, you will have to shape it by carving away excess wood.
