Hi,According to the heading under Problem with:Galaxy DX-44HP Mobile Amateur Radio.If this is correct, Are you a licensed Amateur Radio Operator?If not, Then You will not be lawfully able to operate any Amateur radio until you are licensed, sorry, but thems the rules, and I'm not going to encourage or help anyone to be able to transmit these radios, without the credentials being made available first.Cheers,Peter

radios are very picky beasts, the first thing you should do to get more range out of them is have them tuned by a cb dealer, from factory they rarely get out very far. also for the one that goes in your car antenna placement is very critical since your car body affects how the signal travels. even the length of antenna cable has a effect. when you have them "tuned" many times they will clip a resistor or "limiter" inside the unit. if you look up cb modding, youll find pages with 100s of makes of cb's and learn what modding them means. also look into high gain antenna for your units, if you want really long range buy a linear antenna "illegal in a lot of places" but you will be heard! people have used high gain antenna, and "skip" to talk to people in other states and countrys. skip is when the radio signal "skips" across the uppter atmosphere and uses it like a really big antenna. a lot of truck stops will have a good selection of antennas because cb is still very popular amongst truck drivers. i hope this helps you out and leads you in the right direction. cb is almost a lost art now and its nice to see people that are interested in it. take care and good luck!!

If your frequency and code are set the same, you have either a battery problem or a radio problem. For a quick battery test, swap the battery pack from the good radio into the one with the problem and see if the problem moves. Then you will know if it is simply the battery. If both settings are identical and the battery swap does not solve the problem, you have a defective radio.

Remove the battery, slip a small screw driver into the slot at the bottom of the radio between the outer housing and the battery tray, gently pry up. If your radio has a pair of battery contacts on the exterior they will come up with the tray. Be gentle, and do not disturb the Mylar ribbon that runs down the back of the tray. Once the tray is removed, using a frame removal tool (shaped like a squared letter U) you slip the tool in the channels on either side of the radio where you removed the battery tray. Then slide the tool upward until it meets the two plastic ears. The tool will slip under the ears and using your tool you can push the component board out the top of the housing. If your radio has an 8-dip-switch private line board, you may want to watch you do not damage or dislodge it in the process.

Motorola programming software is proprietary to them, radio dealers must pay for a subscription to each software. just had Mike boom on Bose A20 Pilot headset get loose and drop low. Read internet posts, which said a spring clip gets stretched. Need it fixed now. So I took a spool of black threat and wound dry thread tightly under the mounting boom cap - kinda like dental floss. Did about 30 wraps. Fixed quickly and at no cost! Can't see it either.
