there is no battery voltage going to the unit when the ignition key is in the engine run position , there needs to be voltage to the unit on the run position.

I think the factory used one wiring harness for all the radio's, on a low cost radio you just plugged in the connectors needed for the radio setup in the vehicle and the rest of the connectors are just laid aside. You can't just buy a radio harness, you buy the entire wiring harness for the cab, in any event check this out on the harness and see if the connectors are their.

what is that for nav or music? they don't have batteries in dvd players in cars. the remotes have them. if the player is not working you may try a dvd head cleaner. if it is the nav unit then get a dvd head cleaner with the cleaning parts out at the edge of the disc as the nav unit looks on the edge for information before it starts reading the rest of the disc. if it is a dvd player they search all over looking for anything to start playing. good luck.

Most mass produced consumer electronics are made by robots now and are usually cheaper to simply buy a new one verses find parts and fiddle with the tiny solder joints.
