I have a Manfrotto 685B
If it was second-hand or pre-owned, the previous owner may have applied some form of lubricant to it. From a look at the images on the Net, it appears that the upper sections are adjusted by twist grips. If this is so, just unscrew them and separate the leg sections carefully, after which they can be cleaned. There may be a bevelled collar within, to grip the section - be careful with it.
The bottom section seems to have a standard lever lock. There should be a couple of screws holding this to the middle section - loosen these, then slide the leg portion out and clean it as well. When re-assembling this part DO NOT over tighten the screws - just enough to prevent the locking collar from moving.

How to disassemble 3001bpro
Turn the knob on the bottom of the center column until the top part holding the head comes off. Loosen the center column and drop it down to remove it. Put in the horozontal holder and reattach the top part with the head attached.

Ball slipping
Check out this page and see if there are any parts here that might be what you're looking for:http://www.bogentripodparts.com/parts/head322RC2.htmHowever, I'm not sure there's a way to fix a ball head tripod due to how the tension works for the ball that it rests on. You can also order a new head from the same website. If you have any questions, shoot us an email at

The normal tightness adjustment is black and on both sides of the handle. There is a plus and minus sign above it on the left side of the grip to show how to get more and less tightness. There is a SECOND adjustment that I just found on the back side of the handle (opposite side from the gray grip on the front). This one requires a very small allen wrench to tighten (clockwise). I assume that this one was designed as the rough adjustment and the upper one is supposed to be for fine tuning during a photo shoot or normal use.Either way, I'm glad I don't have to replace my tripod head. She's been halfway across the world with me!

The tripod legs on my manfrotto 3433 slip. the
Hi toolroom347,
There are different clips on the tripod which allow you to adjust the settings for a firmer grip, you also need to extent the gap between the legs of the tripod for a firmer grip, this will help you to set the optimal settings for your tripod which will be fair enough to carry the weight of your camera.
Also a simple solution to stop this slip problem is to carry a small piece of cloth which has guide good grip or a rubber material and then place your camera on it , this will work excellent for a firmer grip.
This has definitely worked for me.
Hope this helps you as well...:)
