Sounds like a fuel problem , have you changed the fuel filter in a while ? could be the knock sensor or the knock sensor module needs to be replaced.

This a hatchback I am assuming. And I also assume that BMW did the same thing as with my MINI COOPER. The pump for the wiper washer is mounted in the hatchback door!!! Right where the wiper motor is. Well I had a similar issue. The motor or hose fitting (can't remember) cracked or just broke, hence the leaking. If you are a decent mechanic. you have two options.
1) Go to the parts yard and get on out of a wrecked BMW.
2) Order the part new and install it.
Failing that you are off to the mechanic..................

Fill and check like a differential - remove plug from side of trans and fill or check that fluid is just up to level of bottom of plug hole - add if necessary till fluid just starts to drip out. "https://www.6ya.com/callphilipforhelp
