The really fine wire is soldered from the RED terminal on left to the RED terminal on the top left (underneath the board). See below in the images.

The two very fine red wires connect here.

You'll need to take the tape casing apart but need special security torx bits to do that (a T-8 and T-9). Once apart (careful, two small springs inside) you can take the tape spool apart and rewind the tape to re-establish tension. Then re-assemble!

1. Pull the tape out about 12-18 inches.2. simultaneously pull the slider switch on the bottom and the switch on the top.

Check I think it to hold the blade out to save a measurement.

I don't know how to use this my husband passed on and I wanted to use this for measuring rooms which side buttons do I use

I had the same problem with mine. I took it apart and inspected it. Mine was a loose connection and after some fiddling with the wires the laser came back on. Put it back together and haven't had a problem with it since. Hope it helps.

is it new??? If yes, return it o the store and exchange it, if not new, mechanism is probably worn out
