Amana refrigerator not cooling, what should be done or what should we check to determine the problem?

The purpose of a refrigeration circuit is to move heat from the inside of the cabinet to the outside. The compressor pumps refrigerant around the circuit and if everything is ok the evaporator is cold and the condenser becomes warm. If the compressor is running but nothing inside or outside is happening either the compressor is defective or the refrigerant has leaked away. If the condenser is warm or hot but the inside is not cold the defrosting panel might be permanently switched on.

Freezer door won't slide open

A tightly frozen door could take days to unfreeze inside. Try using a hair dryer around the door seal. It will take awhile to unfreeze the door this way but it is quicker than waiting for it to defrost. You may have had an extreme leak. Turn the water off to the freezer and turn the freezer controls off or set to zero. You are in a pickle! This is not going to be a quick fix.

Amana freezer forms ice on the bottom. We have

When you see that ice forms on the bottom of your freezer it is most likely means that the drain hose of the fridge is blocked. You will need to take the panel inside the freezer off, clear all the ice and pour hot water into the drain hole until you hear the water coming out at the beck where the compressor is located. The next step would be running a 1/4" hose thru that hole.Good luck.www.QuickFixAppliances.ca

I have a Model IC6 bottom freezer fridge. the

there's a light or door switch that could be bad, look around and you'll see a switch that the door hits to turn the lights on and off,i've seen people put the bulbs in cross threaded i remove the bulb thread it in and it works try removing the bulb and put it back in again, also if you unplug the machine and stick your finger into the socket there's a metal tab in there that touches the bulb if that is pushed in to far it won't touch the bulb to work bend that out a little and try it again, all there is is the bulb the socket and the switch and the switches are pretty reliable, they're located on the side or up top where the door closes in on the machine

If the compressor didn't come on the freezer wouldn't work at all. The problem is in the inside fan on the fridge side.

I have a new Amana bottom mount and the top door on the fridge itself does not close unless you give it a push.

Check to ensure items in and around the refrigerator and the door are not preventing the door from closing on its own.

We hooked up the water line for the ice maker.

Take back cover off near compressor and maybe front grille at bottom and shine a light to see if you can see what is leaking under unit.

Fridge and freezer both not cooling

Yes , your fridge can get stuck in defrost mode. If you can locate the thermostat. Sometimes buried behind a panel in the freezer. There's an adjustment screw or trim screw that allows you to advance the timer on the thermostat. Sometimes they stick in the defrost mode. It may happen once and never happen again. If however it does continue you will have to replace that part.

Is there a layer of ice in bottom of freezer? If so, you most likely have a stopped up defrost drain.
