Please do NOT accept this invitation for paid tech support until you read this entire script as I am myself rated as a Wiz on Fixya and require very specialized tech support for the below unit currently in our shop for repair.
About myself: My name is Rick, co-owner of Accelerated TV Repair out of Portland Oregon where I have been in the TV repair business for over 30 years but have only within the last two years repaired the DLP, LCD and Plasma units. I have been sending many of these newer units (the turkeys) to an associate expert for repair but am losing 50% of my commission. Due to the ever declining nature of the consumer electronics repair industry in general and subsequent loss of income, I have decided to repair these units myself providing that I can find expert tech support which I am willing to pay for and am further willing to commit to repeated support from the same tech(s) who qualify. Therefore, if you think you qualify (factory authorized, access to authorised factory web site, service manuals, experience, etc) for defective board isolation down to component level (when possible), please respond with your credentials and I will consider you for the below job and enter you in my data base for future jobs. I?m also very interested in live paid telephone support which I actually prefer, which my work phone at Accelerated TV Repair is (503) 705-0602. Thanks and good luck to you all.
Unit in for repair: Panasonic Plasma TH-50PE77U
Symptoms:
Unit has no pic or sound
Upon applying AC: unit enters STBY mode...1 relay click on PS bd, no LEDs on
Pressing pwr button: red LED on solid, double relay click, VS audible for ½ sec, goes into SD/protect, red LED blinks 7 times, pauses for 3 sec then blinks 7 times again and repeats.
Quick fix attempts:
buzzed for shorts on PS, Y and Z bds...none found
check all fuse links and mini inductors...none open
checked foil side of PS bd...found the normal decaying solder joints. Resoldered but no help.
Tech request: bad board isolation and repair down to component level if possible.
You may click Accept now if you feel that you are pre-qualified OR if you are already on my approved and preferred tech support list. Otherwise, please decline this request for TS.
Many Thanks,
Rick Brown
