If it works fine when you connect to your tv then you've probably got a loose cable on the screen. You'll have to strip it to check.

System freezes-Video display=multi-staggered image(not legible)

It's either a loose connection from the motherboard to the video-display, or a partially-broken video-display, or the video-adapter in your motherboard.

Connect an external monitor -- if it looks OK when the internal LCD is "wavy", then your computer is fine.

But, since your say "happens to both screens", the most-likely problem is the video-adapter, which usually means that you will have to get COMPAQ to replace the motherboard.

No screen image, just vertical lines of color

You could have a faulty video card or video cable or connector.
To determine if you have a faulty video card, connect an external monitor to the video port on the laptop, power up the monitor first then boot up the laptop. If you don't get a normal Windows image the the video card is faulty, its part of the motherboard and expensive to replace.
If you get a normal Windows image then the video card is OK and the fault is the LCD screen. Reseat the video cable and or the video connector on the motherboard.
If this doesn't fix your problem then it needs to be serviced.

Want to replace Averatec 3200 Laptop Screen

Do you know for sure the LCD screen and not the video card is faulty?
You may find it cheaper to repair the LCD screen than replacing it.

Connect an external monitor to the laptop and power it up, if you see a clear image on an external monitor, this means your video card is OK.

If you see a dim image or flicking image on the LCD screen it means you have a backlight problem.

Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

More information about submitted problem.

You have a failing video card or chip, you will have to determine whether you have a video card or a video onboard chip... if it is a card, you can replace the card.. if it is a chip, you need to replace the motherboard, or attempt a "rebake" of the video chip to the motherboard.

My laptop scrren has colorful grains all of a sudden. Can someone help me this? Thanks in advance

It could be the screen itself, the connection in the fold-down screen, or the video card.

If the situation does not change when you change the screen's viewing angle, then it's not likely to be the connection.

If you can connect an external screen, and the image is OK, then the video card is OK as it's generating the external image properly. If the external image also has the "colorful grains" then it's probably the video card.
