My computer keeps shutting off at random times. I would like to set my Laptop back to factory settings. How can I accomplish this task?

  • Take account of any files or programs you still want to use after the Toshiba laptop is restored back to its factory settings. Transfer the files to a backup location, such as a USB flash drive or external hard drive.
  • 2 Restart the Toshiba Satellite laptop's operating system. Wait for the Toshiba logo to appear on the screen.
  • 3 Press the key that brings up the hard drive disk utility menu. Depending on the specific model of your Toshiba Satellite laptop, the key will either be "0," "F1," or "F8."
  • 4 Press "1" or click "Restore Original Factory Image." Click "Yes." Select "Next" to begin the restoration process.
  • 5 Restart the Toshiba laptop computer when the restoration process finishes running. Follow the prompts that appear on the screen to set up the laptop's date, time and language settings.
  • 6 Transfer the backup copies of the data you saved earlier back to the Toshiba's hard drive. Re-install any programs you need, such as your software firewall or anti-virus tool.

I have a toshiba satellite L645D how can I format it to the factory settings like it just came out of the box.

When your Toshiba Satellite laptop goes on the fritz, there are several instances where the best solution is to delete everything and start over. If your system frequently crashes or you can't remove a specific virus, you may want to restore the laptop back to original factory settings. While the easiest way to restore the system is to use the operating system restore disc, it is possible to restore the system without it. Each Satellite laptop also includes a hard drive recovery utility that lets you restore the operating system without the restore disc.

1.Take account of any files or programs you still want to use after the Toshiba laptop is restored back to its factory settings. Transfer the files to a backup location, such as a USB flash drive or external hard drive.

2.Restart the Toshiba Satellite laptop's operating system. Wait for the Toshiba logo to appear on the screen.

3.Press the key that brings up the hard drive disk utility menu. Depending on the specific model of your Toshiba Satellite laptop, the key will either be "0," "F1," or "F8."

4.Press "1" or click "Restore Original Factory Image." Click "Yes." Select "Next" to begin the restoration process.

5.Restart the Toshiba laptop computer when the restoration process finishes running. Follow the prompts that appear on the screen to set up the laptop's date, time and language settings.

6.Transfer the backup copies of the data you saved earlier back to the Toshiba's hard drive. Re-install any programs you need, such as your software firewall or anti-virus tool.

I wanted to restore my netbook to factory settings...

The Toshiba notebook laptop comes with the Windows XP operating system pre-installed. If viruses and other malicious programs have infected your laptop's hard drive, they can slow down your laptop and prevent you from accessing the Internet. You can fix these problems by using the recovery disc included with your operating system to restore the laptop back to its original factory settings.

    1. Place the recovery disc, label-side up, into your Toshiba disc drive.

    2. Let the program load completely, which takes just a few seconds.

    3. Press the "Escape" keep to move forward to the installation process.

4.Change the drive's name to "C:/," a common name for drives in laptops.

5.Choose a name for your laptop, and click "Next" to finish the re-installation of Windows XP.

I hope you find it very helpful.

Want to restore dell 9400 inspiron to factory settings ,.forgot hardware reset pass word, i disconeected memory battery while replacing kry pad

    Hi,

I you restore your laptop to factory settings, all data and software installed would be lost. i f you are fine with that or u have backed up the data already, follow the below process:

I have assumed that you have windows vista or windows 7:
    • Power off the laptop. Remove any peripheral devices such as speakers, printers or flash drives that are not necessary to this operation. Power on the laptop while holding down the "F8" key until the advanced boot options menu appears.
    • Move the arrow key to "Repair Your Computer." Hit the "Enter" key.
    • Select the language settings to be used for the recovery process with the arrow keys and hit "Next." Log in, if necessary. Press "Next."
    • Choose "Dell Factory Image Restore" OR "Complete PC restore" to restore the drive's original factory settings, and click on "Next."
    • Check the box next to the "Yes, reformat hard drive and restore system software to factory condition" option. Select "Next" and the computer will recover itself based on its configuration settings in the recovery partition.
This will take your computer on the day you bought it. You will get all application back which were pre-installed and will loose everything which you put by yourself.

    Cheers!!!
